Gen 3 Oil Cooler Location

I have a gen 3 2.1l and we're trying to find a place to put the oem lnf oil cooler. The location on the gen 3 block doesn't have the same passages as the lnf block in the same location.

certain gen 3 blocks have oil coolers and some dont.......... the last ldk i did had one.

your sol dude..... this is why you ALWAYS need to check stuff like that. the amount of work it is to make that work isnt fun nor easy if you want it done correctly. look at your lnf block and thats what you have to replicate.

Unless your track racing or autox you dont have to worry about an oil cooler, thats why GM did away with them on most of the blocks.

When I bought my Gen 3 motor from zzp it came with a new oil cooler. Contact them for a new one.

The oil cooler from zzp does not fit on the block, I thought they modified the oil galleys or whatever it's called so it could mount on the gen 3 block as if it was stock. They just modified the angle on one of the hose fittings.

So I'm probably going to buy an aftermarket oil cooler, anyone have any experience with these or suggestions?

Been talking to Jeff and what his setup consists of.*
Apparently there's alot of differences between the ldk and 2.4 gen 3, that's why the zzp cooler won't work. Mongo was saying he's gonna use a Ford oil cooler forget what vehicle but its compact, and I guess there's a oil galley behind on the oil filter just on the 2.4 gen 3 that I can use for the oil cooler, then route the other end of the cooler to the turbo feed.

Aweeee diiiirty. Sorry man I didn't know it would be different between blocks. ZZP should have known that. They didn't even mod the hose fitting on mine. It faces the opposite way.

Theres a main oil galley plug right under the oil filter and this galley also goes to the head where there is another plug . If your turbo you can run the line to a trans or power steering cooler and then right to the turbo. No 4AN line is perfect size
I used a Ford power steering cooler. You can run bigger fittings if your using it as a cooler only or put a T in it for the turbo. no 6 or 8 would work in that case.

Just an fyi to any 2.4 gen 3 owners, do not use the oil galley plug, on the filter housing, for your turbo feed line. I killed 2 turbos from oil starvation because there was no pressure coming from that plug.

I know this is an old post... Has anyone else experienced this? Is it true there is no oil pressure at that oil plug?
