RPM may have a hard time tuning on top of the GMS1. i'm not sure if slowstang had the GMS1 sensors when they tuned him.

I sure hope they don't, I guess I will find out tomorrow. I made sure they knew I had them and they said it shouldn't be a problem. I will be posting the results at some point tomorrow, that much is for sure.

Well the tuning didn't go terrible. Baseline dyno was 262whp and 303wtq, which was alright, then after the tune my clutch was slipping and giving a blank spot on the dyno from about 3-4500 rim's, so my highest was 278whp (very disappointing IMO) and 361wtq (which is pretty good). I have a feeling without a slipping clutch peak power would be a little better, but I really don't know. Ill post my sheet later at some point.

they need to stop dynoing our cars in 4th gear......... stock clutch holds the power but the way they just smash on the gas in 4th of course it's going to slip. having it in 3rd and smashing it down would be perfectly fine. if they HAVE to dyno it in 4th (which you don't) then they need to learn to roll into it.

Exactly. I had him give it a pull in third, but he had already done three in a row in fourth.

figures.

when i dyno'd up there it took them a few tries to get the 4th gear pulls in. i was getting mad that they were slipping the clutch, i was trying to tell them to roll into it. oh well, next time i go i'll make sure they do 3rd gear pulls or seriously roll into it in 4th.

anywho....... yea i'm a bit dissapointed in the whp but the wtq seems to be good.

Yeah I couldn't believe it was that low. Im fairly sure its a little higher than that, but without the dyno reading there's no way to know, ill be taking it down to the track and ill see what it can do and be able to compare from there at least. It feels like a totally different car, that's for sure. Power all the way through. It pulls like a beast.

awesome man

i'm sure the whp is higher but because of the slipping clutch it couldn't read it right. i'm going to setup a dyno day there in a few weeks, i'll send you a PM on here. we'll be sure they do 3rd gear pulls or roll into a 4th gear pull.

I can't believe I missed this thread.

Roshan @ RPM has done my tuning since day 1 with my car and i'm very happy with the results. It's funny that you mention the low whp numbers at I just had a similar story when tuning for meth on the dyno. Every pull that Roshan has done has been in 3rd gear. I've tried 4th one time and it gave a big torque reading with lower whp.

My car put down 318whp and 366wtq at one point. Two months later I put meth injection on and a 3" catback and the best it could throw down was 309whp and 389wtq. The only two things it could be was my stock clutch was hurting or the dyno is just reading lower than my last pulls. I've since replaced the clutch and will step down to a smaller meth nozzle and will throw it back on the dyno.

While the dyno numbers are lower than before my car is the fastest it has ever been even in this summer heat.

*Edit* Stock sensors on the car. No gms1 3bar map and no issues for 30k miles with the pill mod and currently the new HP tuner wastegate tables.

Yeah, I am sure a lot of the problem was the clutch, especially considering how much torque it put down, so lately I've been looking around for clutches, and it looks like I might go with a zzp stage 4 or 4+

I went with a clutchmasters stage 4 6 puck with an aluminum flywheel. A good friend of mine did it for me in his garage...he's not far from Newark if you're interested in having someone do the clutch for you.

good results? you'll be the 2nd LNF they've tuned, that i'm aware of. you can save a couple hundred $$ by having someone else tune you. PM me if you're interested.
WTF is this supposed to mean? Just bc people dont post on the forums doesnt mean we have only tuned 2. We have done 20-30 about half of them turbo.

Are you saying we cant tune your HUGE whp cobalt?

well that's news to me. at the time i last posted in this thread, i've only heard of y'all tuning a handful of Cobalts. but since you've done 30 Cobalts, please post results so that i may recommend you to the locals for tuning.

unfortunately after a situation involving your shop & a very good friend of mine, i won't be recommending y'all for part installations.

i removed it from my post, don't feel like getting into an e-fight about it.

but here's a summary........ they forgot to put in a few bolts on his control arms, didn't realize it until 2 months later (because he doesn't drive it daily) when we got to Tennessee and John Powell found it when he was checking out his issues.

I am tuned by BYT and on the 20psi tune he gave me, I put down 297whp and 327trq with a slipping clutch.

I now have his 24psi tune with a tappered torque setting in the lowered rpms to prevent retardo torque mode in low gears. When I get a new clutch, we will see if his numbers beat yours on your dyno

maybe. Depends on the story I get to hear, lol.

also this thread is really old and its strange that you found it and started argueing on it. lol.
