gm stage 1

ok so i searched but didnt see a thread on this and if there is link me to it and ill delete this one.

Anyway i was thinking about getting GM stage 1 because it keeps my warrany and adds a little more power. Yes i know everyone is going to say aftermarket is the better way to go but i need to keep my warranty. Basically im asking if you can tell a little bit of a power gain and was it worht the money.

Also any dealerships in MD install it right ive heard some messed up the install or something?

I can't believe this is the first thread ever started about GM Stage 1...

Is this a bigger turbo or something?

It is deffinatly better than stock and I felt a difference between stock and when I rode in a buddy of mines car. If you want warranty with no questions asked this is the way to go. Dont get an intake with this tho, it will skew fuel trims but any other bolt ons are good.

Way better than stock. Boosts to 20-21 psi and does not fall on it's face when switching gears @ 5500 RPM anymore. Gas mileage goes up a bit too.
Should have been this way stock. Well worth the money if you want no fear with the GM warranty.
Only drawback is you MUST use 91 octane fuel. Small price to pay.

Youre going to get obnoxious responses, like the one above, that are not necessary. Dont worry about it.

Thats a link to my thread about GMS1 and my dyno results before and after.

In short, yes there is a noticable difference. The change in power is huge, the care will pull insanely harder. Definitely makes for a quick DD.

I still dont get it....everyone says they boost 20-21 on GMS1, but I hold a solid 24 everytime I get on it hard... not just spiking, but holding steady just below the 25 mark. Im going to have to video tape it or something....its weird.

it has a lot to do with elevation and temp in your area.

Yes you can tell a large difference. Its worth the money for some peoples situations and you seem like you'd fit into that. go for it.

Feels alloy stronger. Better driving characteristics in regular driving as well. I'm happy with and would do it again! Obviously aftermarket tune is night and day with gms1 but stock to gms1 is night and day too!

You should have been using 91 octane or better (93 octane) when you were stock. Never run 87 octane in these cars.

Doesnt GMS1 have some sort of stipulation that if installed after original purchase about the warranty?

I use that now but i ts just because I don't mind paying the extra$3 just incase but I never thought you had to because the turbo is exit and doent deal with compression in the engine or atleast that's how someone explained it to me and they said I could run 87 in it with no problem

No I know that. But stock I boosted the same as everyone else, if there was a difference because of elevation I would have been boosting around 20 stock. Plus, my elevation here is pretty normal. I dunno... lol

Dont ever listen to them again. The car was designed to be run on premium. Nothing less.

Go back and tell them that has absolutely nothing to do with why Premium is recommended (and required with GMS1) .

You're not to far from Sykesville, MD. I would recommend that you use Jeff Barnes Chevrolet to install the GMS1 kit.

They installed mine and I have had zero issues with it since the install back in Jan.

Ask for the Service Writer "Chris" and he will take car of you. My dealing with them has always been great and they have no problems installing the kit if you by it from outside vendor like CED.

Their attention to detail is great too. When I had my rear brakes done under warranty in May they also adjusted the tire pressures in all 4 tires to account for the increase in pressure due to the warmer weather. It's little things like that really make you say wow, these guys really car about my car.

The turbo is an air compressor, so your buddy needs to do some reading.

The price was $249.95 to have the kit installed. I made the appointment with them in advance to have it installed and told them it would be a wait job. I got there around 1 and was out the door around 3:00. Getting updates all the time from Chris while I sat in the waiting area.

the best intake for the GMS1 is still AEM and K&N that won't skew your trims as bad. Your LTFT will be with 1-2% off. I have the revised AEM on mine and hasn't gave me any trouble at all. If you get the GMS1 make sure they are solder the wires to prevent LIMP mode from occuring because the kit doesn't like dynamic current on the sensors, just static.

Has anybody ever thought about trying to take their car in with full bolt ons to GM for the GM Tune to see if it helps tune for the parts you have?
