GMPP Exhaust???
Thanks for the help guys... this is why I love this forum... nobody bashes you for asking a question... unless its just a stupid question that you already should know the answer too... but thanks for the help

But back to topic, ya go 3" exhaust on the new turbo version, Hahn makes a nice catback
Sorry your wrong, its 2.25", it is only available for the ss/sc, 2.4 and 2.2 ecotecs, not the ss/tc. Even though its only 2.25" it flows much better than the larger diameter none mandrel bent 2.5"stock exhaust on the ss/sc because of the straight threw resonator and muffler, plus IMO one of the best sounding exhausts on a SS out there.

What is the diameter of the stock exhaust piping on the SC and TC Cobalts? The GMPP diameter is 2.25 because it maintains exhaust velocity.
Why not put a 5" exhaust, that would flow more freely right? That would be bad because it would be too large and not maintain the velocity of the exhaust. Honestly the 3" piping is a marketing tool, I don't think anyone with a Cobalt needs piping that big. We drive compact cars with small displacement 4 cylinder engines, we don't have big V8's that make a lot of exhaust and require 3" exhausts.

I think the stock piping on ALL SS's (2.4, s/c and t/c) are all a mix of 2.5 and 2.25 I think.. But the GMPP is 2.25 all the way through to keep things stable. I believe the welds are also smoother and what not. It is a more optimal flow. But you could probably make something else for cheaper than the full retail on the GMPP. I got mine used for $200..
True that the GMPP Cat-Back will not bolt up to the SS/TC...
Wrong in that GMPP Cat-back is 2.25"... I had it on my car. It was 2.25"...

And it is a good improvement over stock on an SS/SC, because it flows better - straight through mufflers. I don't know about for the SS/TC... I don't know anything about their cat-backs.
Either way... it won't bolt up.

She's a hottie...

there is no need to mantain exhaust velocity or maintain backpressure on a turbo car end of story. you can run whatever exhaust you want but why not go with the 3" to leave room to upgrade? 2.5" is good for like 400 hp.. what are you shooting for?
Im like the sound of my car... as far as performance... im pretty happy with it, not looking to make it any faster for now... since its my daily driver and such, so just a little bit more noise at full throttle.... if that makes any sense.
For a stock turbo car the factory 2.5" setup should be fine. If you're looking at getting a custom tune/calibration the only part of the system I'd probably upgrade is the factory downpipe/cat and maybe the muffler if it's too quiet for your tastes.
