What my installing dealer did to fix it - they "hardwired it", meaning that they removed the butt connectors and plugged the wires directly into the proper spots in the connectors for the map sensors.

Simple, and so far, effective!

As long as that's sealed up 100% it should hold. My biggest problem is winter when that lower TMAP gets obliterated with snow, ice, road salt, etc. At this point, the soldered portion of the harness is zip-tied to my cold side charge pipe to keep it from smashing around and they sealed it up well with electrical tape, conduit, etc. I have my fingers crossed it's done this time...so far this new dealer has been excellent and as long as I have warranty I refuse to do it myself .

Man, I wish I would have seen this a month or so ago. Near the end of June, my car started boosting funny. GM did a lot of work, including replacing the turbo. I believe they finally concluded that it was the MAP sensor wiring. I wish I could have shown them this to replace the original ones with. So far, everything seems fine now.

My car has previously had the GMS1 kit installed. I then removed it this summer to race DS in SCCA Solo and now want to re install the stage kit. Am I going to have to purchase another kit or will the dealer be able to look it up that it's already been purchased and previously installed?

The dealer should be able to look up your serial number and see what calibration is assigned to it. If you had the stage kit installed the calibration system should automatically show the stage kit calibration.

Does that hold true of the PCM has been reflashed to stock? I removed the Stage kit to run Solo D-Stock and I'm thinking of putting the stage kit back on.

absolutely nothing wrong with crimp connectors with a weather proof heat shrink. if 55 million dollar military aircraft use them then so can your car...

you can also install this yourself and as long as its done correctly then you wont have a problem with the warranty straight from GMtunersource.com

If the dealer did the reflash to stock they had to call the calibration center and get the VIN removed from the list or they could not legally reflash the non-stage kit calibration. If that is the case then you will probably need to get a new stage kit to have it reflased.

PM me your VIN and I will check it out for you.

I still think 500.00 for 2 16.00$ map sensors and a few pigtails is outragous. So you can buy the map sensors for 16$ each but than you have to spend over 200 for some pigtails what's wrong with that picture? Just my opinion.

Why not help the rest of us out that dont want the stickers, and GM flash and just want the map sensors and pigtails, cause were running HPT, TP, or whoever else. I'll pay 150.00 for that but no way would I ever pay 500.00.

You can get the sensors and jumper cables from Crate Engine Depot for $136.71 + about $10 shipping.

Just wondering if anyone yet has ordered the Stage 1 Kit that CED is selling with the wire harness shown here:

Cobalt, Solstice, HHR Stage Kit 19212670HK - Crate Engine Depot

I want to get the GM stage kit soon but I have heard some horror stories as far as installs and problems after installs, do you guys think this wire harness will help any?

Thanks

I think it's somewhat ironic that people on this board believe that the crimps are "bad". In reality, soldered connections are more likely to fail when introduced to harsh vibration and temp changes. This is what, as sick_tight alluded to, aircraft are required to use crimped and not soldered connections. I suspect mechanics aren't properly sealing the heat shrink, and then wrapping the joint with electrical tape.

At any rate, for new GMS1 users, they should get the kit from CED, which has the new harness adapters. This should avoid any problems that were previously reported with GMS1. Too bad they weren't available from the start.

If my turbo starts acting up again, I think I might order these and request GM to just replace the whole GMS1 wiring with the new harness.

Well, he had an extra few minutes and installed the kit over the weekend! I can definitely feel the difference. It’s not a huge OMG difference but it is noticeable. I can feel the car just pull harder as I am getting a little more torque steer. I was also able to spin the tires or chirp the tires going into 3rd. Usually I can't even do it in 2nd as the tires I have are really good once warmed up. From past experience with cars it usually takes some time to break in / adapt / learn so we will see what happens in a week or so. Not sure what to do next, maybe a custom intake or intake pipe. I am really trying not to do anything until the warranty is up. Once the cat dies I will get a larger DP and that’s it for now...
