Is the GMS1 still available?
Hey guys, newb here.
I bought my 2009 Cobalt SS Sedan this past spring. Car is bone stock and I've finally got it to a place where I'm happy with it - brought repairs and maintenance up to speed.
I've been looking at getting a tune as I already run 91 in the car and would love to see a bit more power out of it.
Is the GMS1 kit still available? If so, what's the process to get it? Can I just buy and install the Stage 1 Sensors from ZZP and book an appointment at GM for the tune? Do I have to buy a special "kit" from GM in order to get tuned? Just a little confused as to the process...
Thanks in advance!

If you wanted to get the tune via gm you would need to buy the full kit from a dealership or crate engine depot. It will come with a code for the tune to be flashed. The better route especially since cars aren't on warranty any more would be to buy just the 3bar sensors and the adaptor harness (no cutting or soldering) and get smeone to remote tune you with HPT. If you specifically wanted just the gms1 tune you could get that or a canned tune from zzp

You buy these items and install them. Install is 30 minutes to an hour. Very easy to do.

Then you find someone with HPTuners in your area to install the GM Stage 1 tune onto your car.
The tune can easily be downloaded from the HPTuners website. It would cost about $100 plus tuner fee to upload the tune to your car. Take just a few minutes to do. If you were in my area I'd do it for a 12 pack of beer.

Very clean car, Yes we still offer the gm tune kit for cobalts, solstice, and sky's but its not worth buying imo unless you pride your car being "oem" The cheapest I can get it (work as a gm dealer tech) is around 400 dollars. Then you have to go to a dealer that you trust knows about the tune bc in my experience hardly anyone in the dealership world even knows about these cars. Hell the other techs here didn't believe a factory turbo cobalt existed till I drove mine up to work.
Now if you have a good friend in the dealer world and you can find a vin for a cobalt that already has the tune unlocked then you could have them put it in but you still need the map sensor kit. That and it will require some theft relearning bc of the vin mismatch. That's what I'm going to do when I get around to buying a plug and play sensor kit since I have access to the hardware and software.

I like the option of buying the 3 Bar Sensor kit and having someone local flash it.
Does anyone know someone in the Toronto area that will load a tune for me?
