Canada GMS1 Track Results, Not Impressed

My current car - 2009 Coupe, GMS1, ZZP Catless downpipe, Muffler Delete, K&N Drop in.

Granted my tires are still stock and are worn out:

My best time of the day, 13.72 at 106.75 MPH with a .135RT and a 2.235 60'

I was happy because I totally demolished a fully bolted and tuned mazdaspeed 3, beat a couple of stangs, and some old chevy v8 hot rod.

But...

I raced a modded 135i, and got smoked big time. He ran a 12.5, he had slicks on, maybe that's why.

I need to be in the 12's.

Time to get a tune eh?

thats a pretty good trap speed. get some better tires and you could be cutting 2.0-2.1 60 foots

If you wanted to run 12's why did you get the GMS1?

I think Kildore is running much better times on his stage 1.Did you hit the NLS correctly? Your traps are capable of low 13's I think you obviously could pick some up on the launch, but you are losing in the middle of the run too.

Actually, I would say that is pretty good for being on the "safe" GM Stage tune with the couple of mods you have. With slicks you probably would have been in the low 13s or better.

If you can get down to a 2.0 sixty foot time with better tires you should be able to hit 13.2ish at 106.

Modded 135 can make 400 hp easy so its not that much of a downer for like what 10-15k more $$ car?

60' is decent for stock tires. MPH isn't the greatest but you can thank the GMS1 tune and the way they have the MAL table setup (to protect the turbo), power will still fall off like a stock car. Get a tune on top of the GMS1 and you'll be more than happy (110 traps).

Regarding the 135i, it could have very well been an automatic too. The auto 135/335i's are VERY consistent and quite a bit of power can be obtained with just a tune, much like our cars. Don't be too hard on yourself man, you did pretty good.

nice mph, throw some sticky tires on there and you're at a mid 13-sec run.

Couple things I'm commenting on.135 's go mid to high 12's on a 2k dollar Dinan tune only.I have cut many 2.1 60ft times on the Conti's,it is very easy to do.With that same MPH I have run 13.24 in my dad's car with a 2.14 60ft and every NLS. 1 time I missed the NlS to 2nd and ran a 13.58 @ 107. that's why I said you lost a lot of time in the middle of the run.

So what I'm understanding is this:

1) If i ditch the worn-out stock contis, replace them with nitto 555s or something

2) Get a proper tune on top of the GMS1

Then I could possibly run high 12s? Like what, 12.8?

I would be within a leap of the modded 135.

well if you are running 13.7 now then with the tune on top and the nittos i estimate a 13.2@108

thats a good time, well at least from my perspective. when i had my speed 3, it was fully bolted w/ 100% meth, my best time was 13.3 @ 106 mph. it had 323 WHP and 380 WTQ and on bald stock tires. spinning all the way till 4th FTMFL. once i get a tune for the Cobalt, i think i can beat my best time. i feel like the cobalt can launch way better than the speed did. ill just have to wait and see.
