Exclamation HELP Ignition Key Stuck - can't get key to release

Hey, just got back home from the mall. Everything was good, except my key doesn't want to release from the ignition. I can turn my vehicle on, but can't get the key out when I want to turn it off. I guess my car is acting retarded and thinking its being car theft. sigh... Any suggestions to fix this? I tried everything and there is no white button on the steering column, its only on automatics. Thinking my parking sensor is the cause of it and I highly doubt it has to do with my TWM STS because the car can drive just fine after the problem happend. I don't know what the cause is, but if anyone has an issue with this with a manual let me know.

Being a GM tech, I have seen quite a few ignition cylinders fall apart causing that problem. On a manual there is no shift lock system, like you said, leaving only the mechanical relationship between the ignition key and cylinder. Or i guess the switch physically not allowing key to be turned, but I never seen or heard of that before.

I highly doubt that you have a problem with a park position sensor seeing as how you don't have one with a manual tranny my friend. You can turn the car on/off and remove the key in any gear... so you're good to go there

I think there were a few other threads about this problem posted somewhere. I don't remember what the outcome was though.

just got it back today it was the ignition that failed internally inside, so lucky for me the dealer had part in stock. so my car is functionally normally. I never had that issue happen in my 07 SS/SC and GM should have came up with a lock release on the outside for you to release just like the Neon SRT-4's do. well luckly neither part aftermarket part that has been installed was the cause, so its all good for now. Just hope my fuel pump doesn't become next afterwards. I'm not putting shitty gas. Been putting Exxon and Shell mainly and I avoid gas stations like BP now, GoGas, and Citgo.
