GMS1 tune

As we all know, currently the Stage 1 Gm tune for the LNF is not available... but in speculation, when this tune comes out, will it be enough/correct to add on for instance a CAI/CP/IC/ect.? I want to keep the power train warranty so I have decided to play it safe and buy the kit when it comes out, but I am willing to change some other parts out like the CAI and CP eventually. I ask this because everyone and their brother talks about having to get tuned after installing a CAI. Will the GM tune be good enough for that, or will I actually have to get a HP/BSR/Trifecta tune to compensate for that?

ban hammer

personally, if I was going to spend all the money to get GMST1 and full bolt ons I would for sure get retuned. There is a huge difference between GMST1 and a fully bolted and tuned Cobalt SS

well the kits is out from what i know
and dont get an intake. all the tuners i know of that have a TC have put the stock box back in.
and my guess is that the car will still have the learn down feature so if you do CP and all that, it wont help unless you get a custom tune, just like with the stock tune.

Well you are mostly wrong

The tune is not out yet, just the parts. Learn Down is somewhat turned off and any mods will for sure help. Fully bolted with GMST1 will be roughly 290whp.

With stock turbo? Also what makes up your definition of full boltons? (IC/CP/CIA/DP)

Yeah, that is what most of us LSJ guys did with the Stage kits. We bought the Stage 1 for the injectors and the tune and then did a custom tune after that to take advantage of the extra bolt ons we had.

It seems like this is even better to do with the LNF since it comes with that learn-down stock. Also, if someone made a kick-a intake from turbo to inlet you should see over 300 me thinks. <-- so help me if someone takes this statement and runs with it I'll come find you and cover you in BBQ sauce and feed you to coyotes.

CB DP IC CPs Intake or modded airbox yes stock turbo nothing fancy just maxing out the stock turbo at 36 lbs/min airload with a good tune.

Yeah, it just sucks because all us LSJ guys can only make 300whp when the stars are aligned. That new LNF Cobalt is the new Neon SRT-4 imo.

Down Pipe is gonna be your biggest gain bolt on mod for a LNF, the figure is around 15 whp on a HHR SS.

Yep peak torque gains are actually minimal but gains above 4000 RPMs can be as high as 25 whp.

so if you are going to be fully modded anyways and have a custom tune. why the the stage kit? wouldnt it just be a waste of money?

Nope tuning on the expanded range of the new OS and sensors opens up lots of torque and maybe more HP.

Main reason I got the GMPP upgrade on mine, you can tune over it. I don't know about everyone else but eventually I will add a bigger/better turbo that I'm sure the 3 bar map will help out with.

This number is nearly possible without the GMS1. I really dont see the point of getting the GMS1 tune if youre going to get retuned anyways. I understand the sensors and OS are a benefit but really, what is the actual point? Logically speaking it is pointless that is if you are keeping the stock turbo.

EDIT- Oh BTW Nelson, I love your fcking town...I actually am still contemplating on moving there. LETS GO OTTERS!!!

so in theory you could just get the new OS and sensors and be good?
