How can I flash to stock on a non stock ECU?
So I bought an ECU with Trifecta and HPtuner combo tune on it then sent it in to ZZP to put their tune on it. I know i know, but I wasn't savvy enough then (still not but better)
Anyway, I never had a base tune for Vince to work with, he just worked with what ZZP did and ZZP worked with what Vince and either BYT or Term did. I'm wondering if this may be messing up my tune. I have great boost, but every once and awhile I feel slower than normal. Not sure why. Sometimes I'll spin like crazy in second and others it spins mediocre. Same on ramp every time. Maybe it's in my mind, but after reading another thread, it got me thinking. I could be a paranoid kid, but should I extract my stock tune from my spare/stock ECU and try to upload it to my new/tuned ECU and then re-tune it? That way it's a fresh install from Vince?
If so, how do I go about doing this?

I have a trifecta cable, but my question in fewer words is on my stock ecu, can I copy that stock file and then switch my tuned ecu back in my car then flash that to stock, then have vince tune that from scratch?
I've noticed this same kind of thing over the past couple of years. Some days it runs like a bat our of hell and others it seems sluggish. I just mark it up to factors I don't know anything about that can affect the way it runs, like air temps, humidity, gasoline quality, etc. A lot of it could just be my unreliable butt-dyno. I doubt it's the tune, though. If it were, you would basically have to re-tune your car everyday to get it to run like you want it to.

And you should be able to just flash your stock tune and vin and everything right to the other pcm with no problem.
Your trifecta tune was written for that specific ECU. Vince codes the ECU electronic serial number into the tune.
You could have someone with HPT read your stock tune ECU and flash that file into the spare then write the Trifecta over it but I don't think it'll change a thing.
I doubt that is the matter though. If you think the tune dropped a bit or three , just reflash your Trifecta file into it.
It's prob more weather/humidity related than anything else. With HPT you can log regularly for peace of mind.

I'm beginning to wish I just got HPT instead. Seems so much more versatile than Trifecta. Vince told me getting Palmer Performance ScanXL will basically give me more capabilities but seems like HPT was a smarter way to go. Especially since I have a spare PCM
It's looks like this is the direction I'm heading next. I'm going to splurge for the HPT as my next big mod, in the next couple of months. It just seems like the next logical step. We really need the logging and tuning capabilities to keep the cars running their best and there is plenty of good info and helpful members for us tuning newbz. HPT is a large initial purchase but you get a lot of good from it and you end up wasting that amount of money on stupid mods, anyway.

Nothing I can do now, no sense in dwelling, so I'll be TF tuned until I sell.
Vince should not need your ECM to be stock to tune - and he can get stock tunes...
BUT;
if you need a stock tune I saved the one from my car when I was familiarizing myself with my dealer kit.
You could also trade me that ECM for one of my spares.
