how far can i push the zzp kit

ok so my daily driver ate cylinder number 3. Ringlands just like everyone else. So its getting rebuilt with forged rods and pistons and a spec clutch. So i decided i might as well save some labor costs and i bought the zzp kit with the 252. Now its my daily driver so i didnt get the 256. I saw they made 434 hp i assume thats on stock internals but my question is are people with the zzp kit and forged internals running more boost then stock internals and if they are what kind of numbers are they seeing. also does anyone have the zzp kit with meth and if they are what numbers are they seeing.

This is a pretty generic question.

Depends... Are you doing any head work? Intake/exhaust would matter, i am not that familiar with the s252's limits however.

Are you even keeping the 252?

My impression is that the 252 kit is maxed out holding about 24-26 PSI until redline , thats what you get , internals aren't going to magically make more power , just stronger . 252 is still a 252 with a built engine ... You could probably turn it into a Dyno queen to get more power but its a street setup , not really intended to "max" it out. tuning for more power you could get it with Meth but still , if you are building it just slap on the 256 because you can always turn the 256 down but not so easy to get the same torque curve etc drive ability becomes the issue with a 252 trying to get more out of it ...

The 252 is more responsive and therefore more fun on the street. I recommend the 252 for anyone that is only going to the drag strip occasionally.

hey sorry guys I just got a new laptop but I was running an Hptuners tune with the pill mod spiking 27 falling 23 psi to redline. The whole motor rebuild with forged pistons and rods and new gaskets all said and done came out to about 4 grand. This is my daily driver so im not going to put a 256 on as of right now. what im trying to say other than the zzp 434whp dyno what have other people gotten with this kit. The reason I mention my forged internals is not to say i would make more power but i was wondering if I would be able to push the turbo harder than if it was stock internals.

I think theres only 2 people that acually have the kit besides ZZP obvioulsy that most of us know about

I think both of them are pushing around 410whp to 420whp, I'm sure both of them did head work just to be save

I'm sure it's not a bad idea to do pistons well your in there aswell, theres nothing like being tooo safe

"People build motors to protect there investment not to make more power"

well the motor is built now I didnt touch the head though im waiting to see if we get an aftermarket head like the 2.2 ecotecs and some aftermarket cams. I didnt know that few people had the kit lol so in that case ill be sure to update you guys when it gets dynoed next week or the week after. Im doing a low boost tune with stock chargepiping, intercooler, catback to break it in then a full boost tune with all the zzp bolt ons a couple thousand miles later

I'm not sure where these numbers came from. There was three of our customer LNF turbo upgrades posted about quite a bit here and a few more that I have not seen post about their kit. I'd say 7 or 8 shipped so far and there's more on order.

The best numbers we have made on my car are 472 on 93 octane, 485 on 110 octane. Dynojet numbers surpassed 500whp.

We tested a ported head last year. It flowed much better than stock, but there are downsides related to the direct injection. We still made good power, but the effort required makes this mod more advanced than we recommend for most people.

Ok fine, you can do forged pistons and the whole works, but.....

what about the stock transmission?

What do Matt and ryan have to say about that and whether it will fail....

With a shorter final drive and a lighter flywheel, the stock trans holds up much better. We are also doing a few other mods in our transmissions to help them last longer.

Matt, have you guys experimented with straight cut gear instead of helical ones? The only reason I ask is that I have used an M-22 muncie before and the straight gears in that thing could take a huge beating. The only thing is, is the trans case strong enough? Where are the transmissions breaking?

dam i wish I would have known that before I put it all together I still have the stock flywheel now you got me scared lol guess i'll have to keep a few grand on reserve for the tranny. Matt is there any timeframe on when you guys will sell these tranny upgrades? And are you guys going to keep making new parts for us now that there not selling the car anymore?

The trans will be fine if you have a low boost tune.

you guys also have to realize that almost no one here is going to be pushing their cars as hard as zzp. i really doubt anyone is going to be taking their car on slicks with hundreds of passes down the track

Lol well if im on the highway it's going to be hard for some guy to try to stop and go from a dig. I dont know how it is where you guys live but around here there is no dig races the evo and sti guys dont do it anymore because there always braking there drivetrain. so its actually pretty practical.
