How hard is it to install gms1 kit???

Ok, I recieved my kit last week but I just can't justify paying the dealer for anything. I know that I have to pay the dealer for the reflash. I was thinking of installing the kit myself then getting the dealer to do the flash for me.

Just wondering if anyone has did the install themselves and if so, how hard was it??

Looking at the instructions, it looks super easy.

Thanks in advance

i havent done one personally but by judging that needs to be done. you just need to be good at hardwiring things. the only problem is the dealer uses a certain color wiring to tell if it was done by a dealer.

So if you do it yourself will the dealer still warrranty it? Does it even matter what color the wires are as long as they are comparable in gauge. ? Mine is on order and am planning on puttin the thing in also, looks like its gonna be a piece of cake to tell ya the truth. I also have a hookup at the dealer and thinkin it wont matter either way but would still like to know, I only want him to flash it.

well if you have a dealer hook up like me you should never have to worry. the dealer wont warrenty anything they dont do. so yeah it does matter which wire color they use because that symbolizes that it was done at a dealer and not by someone in a garage.

If you really wanted to save some money...you could just buy the stage kit...install it yourself...and then have someone with HPTuners and a copy of the Stage kit just do the flash for you. Although I don't know how that would work warranty wise

The warranty period is shorter if you DIY.
Also if you have any installation issues, you won`t know until the reflash is done.
Saving a little now, may cost later.
Service techs love to tell you it`s gonna cost xxx to fix something remotely related to the potential problems that may be associated with the upgrade.
Heck most don`t even know what it is to start with.
