HP tuners 3 Bar Sensor

I already have a custom HP tune, but did not have 3 bar maps when getting tuned, now i do and would like to put them in..

i know i would need to change it via HP tuners but do i need to get credits to just put it on HPT that i have 3 bar sensors now?

also i was not the one who tuned it, it was a shop so i dont have any logs or anything, id be buying the cheaper HPT

thanks for input

If you are buying a new HPT unit it'll come with the credits to unlock your car

it was already unlocked by the shop, so would i have to unlock it again for myself? i only want to add 3 bar sensors, why would i go back to him to have him retune it for more money when i can do it myself, ya know

If you had it unlocked with your HPT account, you don't have to use credits to unlock it again. If you are unlocking it with a different account, then you have to use 2 credits.

You would have to unlock it on that Hp cable, so it will cost you 2 credits. If you're this unsure you need to go visit the hptuners forum and start reading and reading and reading before you start touching anything

Yeah I'll just leave it be then. If I plan on doing any other engine mods and need a retune then I'll do the 3 bar then

Just so it's clear for the OP....

Unless you are using the EXACT same MVPI (aka cable, aka interface) used to tune your car originally, you will have to use 2 credits to unlock your vin again to flash any changes to the ecm. This goes for basically ANY vehicle, not just the LNF. The only exception to this is if you happen to get your hands on a used cable that has your entire model year of that particular car unlocked OR the previous owner of a given MVPI tuned enough of that particular model year vehicle to where the crediting pop-up dialog screen gives you the option of using only 1 credit to unlock that entire model year from that point on in the MVPI. Even if that car has been tuned 4 different times by 4 different interfaces, it does not matter. It MUST be unlocked for that specific MVPI. HPTuners does not keep a global database of individual vin's in the system in order for your vin to remain "unlocked".

I hope this makes sense now.

Thanks, I do wish they did keep a global database of the Vin numbers, it would make it easier and cheaper to do minor changes, such as what I want to do. No biggie thanks for all the info guys and the couple laughs.

It would be cheaper for you, more expensive for them. Its only $100 and if you're buying a hptuners cable new you get 8credits so you dont have to buy more. If you buy a used cable just make sure there is 2 credits on there
