IC install issues

Just installed my new Treadstone tr8 IC and fittment was excellent and it looked superb....BUT where the coupler off the elbow meets the hot side charge pipe it seems to be very weak and flimsy, can not get the charge pipe to stay on and eventried eliminating the coupler in between the elbow and the charge pipebut it still blew off.Is my only solution to add a steel or aluminum joiner in between the coupler and CP?

If you have a stock hotside charge pipe, the stock coupler is a real bitch to get on and stay on. You gotta have some serious manpower to put it on good and tighten the T-Bolt as much as possible. I had it blow off once. I made sure it would not blow off again. TR8 is a decent IC, I have it too

Yeah I noticed the stock coupler does not want to work well with the coupler I recieved with the IC .... I was just thinking of adding some aluminum in there to support the stock coupler atleast untill I can upgrad the charge pipe.

pretty sure treadstone even said the stock charge pipe would be a little tough to do on their IC.

Most people should have gone with their pipes and IC as a kit.

Yeah, you should just get their CP's too so that you don't have to mod your stock ones up

I got mine on by taking the "elbow" out of the intercooler and putting that in the stock lower coupler as far as possible using rubbing alcohol as a lubricant but I flared the end of my "elbow" to make sure it couldn't blow off again. I used a deep socket and rachet and went to town on it. No problems since but mine blew off about 6 times before I added the flare.

i just installed a tr10 on my hhr and had no issues with connecting to the stock piping....although i had to make several other mods to the crash bar and supplied mounting hardware to make it fit on the hhr due to the radiator being different than the cobalt. i used a spray lubricant to get the supplied elbows onto the stock couplers...tightened the livin **** out of them and no problems so far.

Is ZZP the only one with upper charge pipe that bolts to stock location fastener on top of engine.

No. There are others that bolt there. Injen does. I know Hahn doesn't.
