IC piping

I've got the trifecta multi-stage tune and might be getting some charge pipes here soon, just wandering if a tune update is absolutely necessary?? Also, anyone have issues with Injen's?

Yeah, it isn't necessary but you won't get any hp gains from it. At least I don't think you will.

Oh really? I always thought you had to retune after any bolt on to gain anything. I guess it's just with the stock tune you won't get any gains then, right?

I did not change my tune actually. It gained approx 6-7 whp up top from simply installing the chargepipes. (It was actually 11-13 whp gained from the IC and charge pipes together.) No retune is required after installing chargepipes or an IC. Only an intake or catless DP needs a retune.

I'm on a stock tune right now and I just bought the Injen Charge Pipes (From TTR) and installed them this weekend. I know I didn't make any HP gains because I don't have a tune however the turbo just seems more eager to play comes on a little bit quicker The stock Charge Pipes after removing them I noticed are really restrictive in some points and the Injen Pipes by comparisson are nice smooth mandrel bends and the diameter of the pipe isn't always changing. Instal was super easy and they sit very nicely in the engine bay especially with the bracket that attaches to the manifold.

One of the big issues with a catted DPs of any kind is that the cats get hot and the ECM adds a ton of fuel sometimes at WOT to cool the cats down but it kills your HP at the same time. A/F goes as rich as 10.2. Normally the COT protection will not kick in until 10-15 seconds of sustained WOT or a ton of hard bursts one after the other like road racing.

Thanks again for your order! We try to have them in stock at all times, for others interested.

Hey guys, I see that you need to retune after a catless DP. However, If I was to say upgrade to a high flow CATTED downpipe from say clear image or Hahn, would I need to retune? Anyone test out those hi-flow catted downpipes?

You wont see the power increase on top end unless you tune. The Hahn one, we know, will be fine without a tune, you just wont gain any top end power unless you tune.
