i started out thinking the same way and after i filtered thru the post's, I determined the best bang for the buck and a very safe tune for the car was the Trifecta. Vince is a very sharp guy and conservative.

I kept the tuning cable just in case i needed to flash back to stock and take it to the dealer. It would take some doing for me to take my car to the dealer because I enjoy tinkering and learning and do not trust most of them to work on my car anyhow.

I have owned lots of cars in my life including several BMW'S and I really enjoy this car more than most of them.

Just use the advanced search, try a few different ways to word what you're searching for and 9 times out of 10 you can pretty much pinpoint what you're looking for.

Am i the only one that thinks the Conti's suck (no i know others do), yea that was my plan gms1 and rubber, for those who r interested im in the processes of getting harness adapters from our stock MAF sensors so that i can "plug" the GMS1 into the stock harness, Pretty stoked to get it, like i posted, got the car in dec, have never been able to get close to griping second, i wanted to wait till spring to fell the grip, and compare it to GMS1.

Yeah but with the summer tires in the cold they'll spin.
The rubber gets hard.

you say you call your dealer when you are gonna install something or mod your car.
they tell you o.k. no problem. them telling you that over the phone means nothing.
unless you get it in writing, it is useless. and what if that dealership closes up or gets
sold? good luck with that. the dealer i bought my car from no longer sells or works on
chevrolet. see my point?

I don't wanna fight with u guys at all. The info i have gained i greatly appreciate and i thank all of you. I just hate when i have to read through bs to get to it. yes this is a ps post in a tech section i admit. but its with the purpose of us all to gain in more knowledge. i'm sorry if i pissed ne one off thats not my intentions
i have to agree here... nothing worse than someone asking about GMS1 and having 400 ppl chime in and say don't do it.. it sucks... get an HPtune or trifecta... great advice/logic... because it doesn't make as much power that means it sucks? .. in alot of cases the OP is not asking for an opinion... he wants facts on the GMS1 tune which IMO is a great power making tune and doesn't get rid of the warranty... some people forget that not everyone on here is striving to be the fastest cobalt on earth or can afford to pay for damages or spend every other weekend retuning their car and taking bolt-ons off their car when they have to go to the dealership (which sadly happens quite frequently for some). for those who will no doubt chime in and say it doesn't take that long to do so... you obviously don't have kids or probably have the spare time/tools/garage/patience to deal with it when some don't. not everyone who drives a cobalt likes working on them in what little spare time they have. Some people just like to drive them.

I had the pleasure of being here when this website didn't suck. You can thank the old admin for the suckage. If you don't like it, GTFO. Please don't make threads about it. Thanks.

See, he knows. lol

Wheel spin means you just have more power than you need, that's all. lol

Cool thread Bro...

Ok now that that is out of the way. GMS1 is expensive, that is a fact. Any modification can void your warranty if it causes a problem or if gm says it did so It does not mater if you have a tune or not. GMS1 is a good power adder and the sensors are good for HPT later.

If you want the maximum tune and the best possibility to retain your warranty then get a second ECU and then get trifecta/hpt.

The reason why there are so many opinion threads is because everybody has an opinion.

and the reason why there are so few fact threads is that there are not enough people documenting their gains, afr, knock, LTFT, STFT, and other stuff (me included).

I would have more of this myself if there were any tuners worth a damn local to me in colorado, instead I have to drive to pueblo to use a friends hpt and then get that data emailed to Terminator2. The process sucks but I don't have the time to learn to tune myself and the money for my own copy of hpt.

$630 to gain 40whp and 70wtq is not expensive considering that's better gains then most car upgrades can produce for the same money or more. and you get to keep your warranty... the difference in price between GM and aftermarket tunes is not worth throwing away your warranty for alot of people. If you really NEED to go fast and are on a tight budget then yes aftermarket is better but that $300-400 you saved probably won't even cover a fraction of your repair bill if something goes wrong. (and it probably will because it's a cobalt)

GMS1 tune and sensors from CED $550, dealer install $78.

yes HPTuners and Trifecta is cheaper and makes more power but again... no warranty and data logging can be tedious if you want the tune working perfectly on your car.
