If you really NEED to go fast and are on a tight budget then yes aftermarket is better but that $300-400 you saved probably won't even cover a fraction of your repair bill if something goes wrong. (and it probably will because it's a cobalt)

GMS1 tune and sensors from CED $550, dealer install $78.

yes HPTuners and Trifecta is cheaper and makes more power but again... no warranty and data logging can be tedious if you want the tune working perfectly on your car.

how much data logging have you done? I would hardly call it tedious. And i sincerely hope that people are not going after market for a tune due to being on a budget, I figured it totally opposite of you.

if you cannot afford to play= gms1
if you do not like working on your car=gms1

It depends on the dealership for GMS1 tune, I could not find one in my state that would install for less that 200 bucks and did not want to install what i did not buy from them. My original dealership was going to but they went out of business 2 weeks after i bought the car from them.

I spent 225 on the ECU, 150 on the tune so that makes 375 for a tune that is 100% undetectable for roughly half the price of GMS1. I still have full warranty, I have been in for warranty work with the only problem being them having a problem with my k&n drop in that they said if they found again they would void the warranty.

(so you see even bolt ons or drop ins can make a dealership decide that they don't wanna cover you, so if you get gms1 and an intake they could still kill your warranty if your engine blows up.)

gebus... GM dealers in the states are crooks too lol ... hell even teh dealership here that installed it wanted $900 for the kit plus install. i laughed and told him i could get it at CED for half the price.

you're right which is why i just did GMS1 and no other mods... not even an air filter..

i dunno i've seen some young guys on here wanting to spend what little money they have left from college tuition trying to make their car as fast as possible for the price of peanuts. They don't consider costs down the road..

didn't read all of the 1st post, got to the part where he was talking about modding the car but obeying by GM's rules...

its real simple, you got to pay to play

sure some of us have mods and have had warranty work done, no questions asked, i'm one of those people... however, when I started to mod the car that IF I got hassled by the dealers, it'd be my own damn fault... I chose to take the car above the specifications that GM set forth for the car... they have since added GMS1 and decided to back it... if you don't want to pay to play, throw GMS1 on your car, make your 270whp and walk away... for the rest of us, we crave more

Welcome to the site, you'll find this forum is mostly punk kids bickering about who's e-***** is larger based on how many insults they can throw in to backup their half cocked ideas on how engines work mixed with a few legit ideas.

But most importantly this forum exists so it can generate ad revenue.

There's gonna be dumb ass kids no matter what forum you're on, plain and simple. The info is out there. All the childish crap and smart ass comments can be saved for a different place, however there are people like myself who can be a smart ass. Everything should e taken with a grain or sometimes many grains of salt. There's no reason to bash vendors or others cars. There are very few vendors I like but I wouldn't bash the others or say one is better because I prefer them over the next guy. As far as cars go, we all have a different style and taste. Just be respectful. Were all into the same thing, whether it's domestics or imports
