installing downpipe

installing downpipe

i wanted to replace the studs for the top of the downpipe (turboside) cuz there a little worn down from me removing and replacing my downpipe 3 times in the last week long story i was just curious whats the part number for the top and or does the zzp catless downpipe come with new studs? thank you

well user error i would guess the ends of em look like there stripping i would feel much better with new ones

If you mean does the zzp downpipe come with them, no they dont. But I would just call gm and order them

They are made with the threads relieved at the end of the studs to aid in starting the nuts. Use some anti seize on them.

I believe they are pressed into the flange and you won't get them out easily.

i got them out when a bolt wouldnt brake loose and the stud came out, i was like oh **** because i thought i broke it off but i didnt and its double threaded and they went right back in and didnt show any signs of coming back out

That's weird when i took off the Downpipe all 4 of the studs came out nut still attatched but they go back it was quite weird i at first thought i broke it untill i put it back in and had no problems but now the nut is stripping and i would guess i gotta replace the whole stud and nuts cuz it all comes out as one peice

would be easier and cheaper to buy new nuts that fit the studs.. Soak the studs in some pb blaster or wd40 and double nut one of the ends then use a wrench to break the stuborn nut off. Then replace the nut with something newer and or stronger... my 2cents...

They are relieved at the ends, so OP that may be what you are seeing as "stripping."

As far as them being pressed in, they are not, they are just threaded in. I just did my downpipe last week and 3 of them just unthreaded right out rather than the nut loosening lol. I just put loctite on them and reinstalled.

OP they should be easy enough to replace. With the DP off load the studs up with penetrating oil then get a good set of vice grips and turn them out. Theres a unthreaded section in the middle of the stud that you can grab with the vice grips. Hopefully the studs will turn out with a little muscle
