K & N drop in waste of time???

cuz of learn down ecu in ss/tc, is it a waste of time for a k and n drop in, will it just revert to regular air flow???? also, please check out MY WAR STORY RACING MY OLD WORKED STI IN MY BONE STOCK SS/TC.... GOOD TIME TODAY WITH THAT

OH. ONE MORE THING........ AS I WAS RACING I WAS SHIFTING CLOSE TO 6K BUT I NOTICED A HESITATION LIKE I WAS HITTING THE REV LIMITER, COULD IT BE JUST THAT? IS IT EZ TO COME CLOSE TO THAT LIMIT AND THEN IT GETS ACTIVATED? SHOULD I SHIFT BELOW 6K AND NOT RISK A SLIGHT RPM RAISE IN BETWEEN SHIFTS??

I think in the long run, any modification done to the intake and exhaust will be compensated by the learn down feature. A tune will allow mods to have an effect (but you have to "tune your mods")

You may notice a little less turbo lag, but then again dont expect to be blown away

Even with the learn down, it doesnt hurt. And when the time comes for a tune, you will have the advantage of a better filter.

I read your war story and I wouldnt expect your car stock to beat the Sti, but with a tune it should be neck and neck once the cars are moving. As for the M3 comment in your post, my E46 M3 and my stock SS/TC are just about equal from 40-100 mph (M3 is a touch quicker...nd much quicker off the line)....after 100mph the M3 really gets in the zone and is clearly the faster car. With a tune though, I think the SS/TC would beat it pretty soundly since it would pick up a huge torque advantage. I will be able to test that hypothesis in 1 week when I get my tune

Perhaps I will make a video about it...

u only dont gain any peak hp,torgue, u still gain up untill ur peak withing the rpm range.
example if stock u have 220hp at 3500rpm, u would now have about 230hp at 3500rpm. it just wont go over 260. so u should have better pickup at low rpm. iv noticed it.

and as for ur hesitation, i dont think u hit the rev limiter, cause when i hit it i loose power right away, use nls.

well yea, thats what i actually meant, i do lose power instantly, like hitting a wall, thats why i figured its the limiter.... man, if u even come close to that redline it seems our cars are quick to limit the power, it keeps a tight watch apparently, come even a hair to that magic redline area and boom!!!, time to shift a 100rpms earlier!!!!

also, i did nls once, i heard like a crack or pop noise, someone said when you here that noise, it means u executed it???!!!

hey, what cold pressure do you all keep ur tires at? the door jamb says 33psi cold for all 4 tires, but what really is cold? i keep my car in a garage that is 70 degrees year round!!!

As far as hesitation, I notice if I try to go from 1 to 2 hard (even with NLS) I hit a wall when I drop the clutch to second because my car stutters trying to use traction control...use TCS off or Competitive mode, I've found that eliminates my wall, in which case is caused by TCS, at least for me.

ya then ur hitting the limiter shift sooner. i have never heard a crack or pop when i nls, they say thats what u hear, but i know i did because it throws me back in my seat, and i dont loose any boost. watch ur boost gauge when u attempt it, if u dont loose boost u did it. if it drops like 2 psi, u still did it. if it drops back to vacuum u didnt do it. i keep my tires at 32 psi. if u dont want to deal with cold weather lack of air fill em with nytrogen. it also helps the tires run cooler and reduces wear.

ya u dont want tcs on when u giver off the line, it will cut power to motor when u spin.

Oiled cotton gauze was found to be significantly inferior to paper filters in terms of filtration. I would highly recommend sticking with a paper filter if you value the life of your turbocharger. You don't want dirt or other particles to pit your turbocharger impeller.
