k&n intake install

quick question, im going from an injen cai to the k&n intake and was wondering if i should put the little nozzle that goes between the fender wall back?

dont know how to really describe the part, but if you go to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm and search inlet hose, thats the part i am talking about.

I left it there, partly because I didn't want to deal with taking it out. Who knows, maybe it'll improve flow/temps a bit somehow.

yeah, im getting retuned right after i put in the k&n so maybe ill test it out with it on and off.

all i really care about is which way will cause the least amount of turbulence over the MAF, and from what i can figure they both might help with this.

with the inlet hose on there it might cause more air to rush to the intake and cause turbulence and without it maybe it creates less turbulence over the MAF and vice versa for the two setups.

My experience is that once this intake is tuned for, it works very well. Despite being a SRI, the air temps have been wonderful. When moving, it's got better air temps than my car was getting on the stock "CAI". Air filter inspection showed that this was at least partly because the air was coming in directly through the grill/hood, and not getting that heated beforehand.

The intake shows very good characteristics when air's going through it and at idle. It does get some tubulence when you let off off throttle at speed. I think this is the downside to it getting air through the grill/hood, as the wind blows on it and throws off the MAF. This only happens when completely off the throttle and decel fuel cutoff hasn't kicked in (DFCO usually engages when you're above 2,250RPM or anytime in 5th gear and will disengage when you get below 2,250RPM in any gear except for 5th, which I don't remember what RPM that is, but it's lower).
