K04+ Damaged, is there a work around?
Hey guys,
I bought a brand new K04+ from TX.SS.TC aka Josh Sprayberry and he think it looks like shipping may have caused some damage. TX.SS.TC has filed a claim against UPS and we're hoping for the best.
Anyway, what do you guys think is there a work around or a fix to this issue?

I'm far from an expert but I wonder if you found a REALLY good welder if he/she could fix that....
How was it packaged? As an experienced package shipper, a good rule of thumb is to shake the package after you've packed it. If you get any shifting, pack it tighter. Tight is safe.

All I know is this is how I got it and TX.SS.TC claims it wasn't shipped that way.
All I know is I wanted to put on a K04+
IIt shouldn't matter that much. It's not a structural part. Many turbos crack in somewhat insignificant places. That piece is only there to split the air entering the exhaust side of the turbo. I doubt there's much additional turbulence from it.
If you're really paranoid, you can TRY to have it welded, but the end can't be welded. It would have to be the sides. Not sure it's worth the trouble to weld it.

I don't know if cutting just the small section would do anything - if the remaining bit is still there the crack will just continue from where it started, since that's what stress cracks do. The best is to cut a stress-relieving groove, then weld the groove - a good welder should fix that pretty easily.

That's why both TX.SS.TC and I don't package them ourselves when we ship. We let the UPS store or who ever package it for us. It costs us a little more but the liability isn't ours anymore.
