Send it back bro. If you're not happy with it, why would you keep it?

These things aren't difficult to find, so you can get another.

#09-06-93-002: Turbocharger Housing Inlet Flange Cracks in Partition Wall - (May 27, 2009)

Subject: Turbocharger Housing Inlet Flange Cracks in Partition Wall

Models: 2008-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, HHR SS

2007-2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP

2007-2009 Saturn SKY Redline

2007-2009 Opel GT

2007-2009 Daewoo G2X

All Equipped with Engine RPO LNF

Please Refer to GMVIS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important: DO NOT replace the turbocharger assembly for this concern.

The purpose of this bulletin is to address concerns with turbocharger housing cracks in the inlet flange partition wall. Vehicles diagnosed with various driveability concerns or turbocharger DTCs P0299 or P0234 after inspection, are revealing cracks in the inlet flange partition wall of the turbocharger housing. Turbocharger assemblies are being replaced based on the discovery of these cracks.

The pictures below illustrate typical cracks found in the turbocharger housing.

TUR1.jpg

This illustration shows the location of the cracks in the partition wall of the turbocharger inlet flange on the left (1) and on the right (2).

TUR2.jpg

This illustration shows a close-up of the crack on the left side of the partition wall (1).

TUR3.jpg

This illustration shows a close-up of the crack on the right side of the partition wall (2).

These cracks are not uncommon and are considered a normal condition and should NOT be a reason for replacing the turbocharger assembly. The cracks will not affect performance. If the vehicle exhibits driveability concerns or turbocharger DTCs P0299 or P0234 are set, refer to SI and follow the established diagnostics for correction of the customer concern.

Me and Brian@BNR even talked about the dividers being cracked 3 weeks ago when I rode down with a Alabama Cobalt SS/TC owner to buy one, his had a crack in the stock K04.

My Stock K04 off my HHR SS I traded in on a BNR 2871GT with only 10K miles on it had a crack, no big deal.

While I understand this crack is no big issue, please re-read your comment and ask yourself if it makes sense....

The crack is on the exhaust side big guy.

Even tho its a little crack. It can and will get larger with hot and cold. .. Once it cracks more the stress on the crack can cause it to break (peices or the whole damn thing.) dont install it spend ure money on somthing larger.. or better

Lol i know this i know the tsb. ( ill explain more. .... The dealership that i work with for doing aftermarket tunes came to me and said he theres a tsb for this car and we arent replacing the turbo, what do you think)....??? I said the same thing i did here. Later on about a year or a little less that crack became a larger crack which also warped and it caused bad exaust flow. The reason the car came ba k to the dealer was because its turbo fluttered un any boost. Put a new ko4 on it and it was gone. I am more or less saying it can happen ( safety first).... theres prob some stuff that caused it as well egts getting to hot. But who knows lol..

thats a heat stress crack in the divider there is no real easy way of fixing that and mine has two in it and i just put it back on it will be ok. the fix requires heating the housing with an oven and while its glowing cherry hot then you weld it up.
