I said the same thing i did here. Later on about a year or a little less that crack became a larger crack which also warped and it caused bad exaust flow. The reason the car came ba k to the dealer was because its turbo fluttered un any boost. Put a new ko4 on it and it was gone. I am more or less saying it can happen ( safety first).... theres prob some stuff that caused it as well egts getting to hot. But who knows lol..
That's not what was causing the turbo flutter on the car.

Lol actually it was lol.. The crack wasnt a crack anymore it turned into a broken peice of mettal that caused it to flutter. It fluttered on normal driving. ..

if there is a peice missing grind it to an even point and move on it shouldnt cause a flutter that is improper actuationof the wg or recirc
and some have problems when spooling in high load low rpm range in which case us wg % controll to tune it out

LOL.... can you not read, this car im talking about was at a dealership (DEALERSHIP) They called me too look at it. We took the k04 off and first time it was just a crack, second time it was because the turbo would flutter under normal driving and even idle. A peice of metal from the housing breaking off didnt hit the turbine but was stuck in the housing.. We replaced the turbo no flutter... The waste gate (HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS FLUTTERING) ecspecially since it was on a stock car no mods no tune.

.... this is me bro !!! DID you pay for a cracked turbo housing? Nope id get rid of it not only for the purpose of less worries, but because you paid for a good turbo. It might be good een with that crack but for what you bought this turbo with you could have bought a turbo mani and a turbo that will work with your stock downpipe... This is me though...... What i said is true, ive worked with many turbos, and this k04 was the only one that i seen do this (So its not really common, but it happens)..

Ok, next time you are in Alabama take a trip down to BNR's shop in Trusville, look at all the stock K04 cores he has sitting around from the LNF.

I'm pretty sure he has seen more used K04's from LNF engines and has more sitting around then you will ever see.

Seeing as our turbo's hardly ever fail (very rare), I've doubt you've seen that the crack is a normal thing in the divider or that you've actually seen a large sample size of used stock turbo's failing.

FYI, stock DSM cast exhaust turbo manifold was notorious for cracking in the divider, and thats pre-turbo.
There was never a recall on them and people never rushed out to replace it because of turbo failures. Which would have been catastrophic since a piece would have got chewed up by and impeller.

Well I've decided, I'm slapping it on tomorrow. Matt (ZZP) although expressing his distaste for K04+ assured me that this crack is fine! Nothing to worry about.

I'd be more worried about two cracks in the divider than one and some stated that's even safe. So I guess it is what it is. I won't stress out about it unless there's evidence of there being a serious issue.

90 % of all used KO4s have this crack.

Lol bnr has prob seen more ko4s and i really can care less. But my point is i have seen it fail before.. I didnt say its gonna happen to all ko4s out there. All i said is i seen one do what i said happened. So i myself wouldnt take a chance. Ecspecially for a tiny ass turbo for the steep price this man paid. I know this crack is normal, i also know about the dsms lol you dont have to try to teach me anything lol. Its like this! You know that a ct-26 turbo can be ported out and ect and will be made into a. .62 in and all the ones who did this the turbos shaft was so unbalanced that it shaved the housings and would grenade. What is the point of someone taking a chance with the ct-26 60 if it has so maany issues when.done???? Oh i know because its rare....my point isnt that its rare or common its that it could happen over time and cause damage so why.take the chance..... SB]

I'm gonna go ahead and slap this on. Performance Autowerks said basically what everyone else said. It's normal and doesn't effect peformance or reliability. He went on to test out the reliability on these cracks as well. He said he believes it'll remain problem free for 100k miles or more. He said a good welder can fix it too for ease of mind. He stated like someone else and said he's not sure how much the effort is worth.

So I was thinking of starting a new thread but I figure this is a good place for now. But I'm assuming since the + is a modest increase in power I don't need support mods other than what I already have. But if I do need any please let me know.
