LNF Rear Brake Squealing

Hey Folks, I had replaced rear brake pads, and rear rotors. Still squealing like a BITCH! Pisses me off! I am very frustrated with rear brake. I had replaced brake pads twice, and I did lube the rear brake calipers bolts already. Am I missing something here ?

While braking and turn to right squealing like a BITCH! Very Loud! I noticed people looking at me. When I turn left, it's quiet. It's very weird.

Grease back of pads or use disc brake quiet by CRC.

They shouldn't be squealing really.

.

Mine squeal like a school bus stopping first time in the morning, then its good for the day. Someone here once explained to me its a micro layer of rust that forms on the rotor thru the night and you have to burn it off. Not your problem obviously, but I just wanted to add for those reading.

Make sure you have the "tit" of the pad on that side inside the groove on the piston in the caliper. Otherwise it will drag all the time and most likely make that noise. I'd start there.

Found the issues, It's the emergency brake! It's tight as hell! I had to loosen it up, now it STOP squealing! No more squealing, I think that is the issue why some LNF owners are very frustrated with their rear brake squealing. I'd go from there and check out with your emergency brake.

Yeah, a lot of members just keep tightening up the emergency brake adjustment when the e-brake stops holding. The problem is actually the caliper piston not returning to the reset position. If you were one of those people that tightened your e-brake cable, when you put on new pads and "reset" the piston, the e-brake was so tight that the piston put a bind on the cable.

Damn if the rear calipers on these cars aren't the biggest hunks of **** around.

Update: Yep! Here we go again back to step 1! It's squealing like a pig! I tried switch new brake pads still end up the same thing! I did compressed brake caliper and I opened up the bleeder to bleed the brake while compressing the caliper. This caliper is FUCKED UP! Will not compressed all the way back down. It will only compressed about 1/8 that's it, I think this is the reason why due to that ******* had tighten up the emergency brake and not allow the brake compressing while braking. Cause it only move 1/8 back a and forth and it's not let it off freely. I had tried to force compressing counterclockwise and it stop there. I have to get new caliper cause this caliper will not budge at all. Pisses Me Off! Sigh...

Just making sure, you were using a compression tool that rotates and compresses at the same time right? with the little notches that line up with the piston?

Mine does the same crap. Mostly when it's wet or after it gets wet for a few days. Brake boost for a few seconds and it will go away lol

I had put so much grease in it anyway. Even I put high temperature grey grease on the edge of brake pads and back of it. Still don't work! GM pisses me off!

Hmm you sure you used the proper brake tool? I also found that if I twisted it the decompressed it completely then compressed it, it would compress much easier.

YEP! I have c clamp for brake to press the pistons back then slot in new brake pads in. I've done it many times.

No c clamp on rear calipers, my man. You have to twist the pistons clockwise, slowly, while applying pressure. There is a special tool for it but it can be done with some large, straight, needle noise pliers.

This on a C-clamp isnt going to rotate it correctly. I also forget if the rears are clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation

I did it without C-clamp and realized it's not working. So, I had to get this special tool to decompressed it. When I turn it clockwise it won't decompress then I had to do it counter clockwise about half way then turn it clockwise then it finally decompress. I had replaced pads and rotors. Still squealing ever since...I've been dealing with it everyday when I'm driving my car.

When I bought my 09 SS new, the rear brakes squeeked all the time for the first 8k miles. Then I took the car to Road America. A couple of 20 min track sessions later, routinely braking from 120+ mph (even 140 mph into turn 1) down to 60, and the rear brakes never made a sound again .
