LNF stage 2 kit?

Before anyone trys to razz me about talking about something that has been mentioned before, I did a search, and this was the closest I could find to an answer;

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...=stage2&page=2

Ok, that being said;

I’m posting this because I hadn’t paid too much attention to the ’05-’07 Cobalt LSJ stage kit offerings, or any lead time between kits;

So GMTunersource last cited the Stage 2 quite some time ago – but it hasn’t been mentioned since (iirc) July 2009 ~ which was before the stage 1 was released, and around the time that it was disclosed that the stage1 for the Cobalt was not going to include a replacement for the factory airbox…

Q: Did GM stagger the Stage kits for the LSJ apart, or were they all released at about the same time?

Last time I checked the LSJ had offered through GM performance parts:
  • Stage 1
  • Stage 2
  • Stage 3
  • Extrude honed exhaust manifold
  • Catback exhaust system

(I could have sworn I read about GMPP header & CAI, but I maybe I was wrong)

Right now the LNF has only the stage 1…

Anyone willing too stick their neck out to guess what’s with the hold up on any more LNF-Cobalt upgrade parts…

umm, please don't take this the wrong way, but did you two simply reply to the subject line?

Q: Did GM stagger the Stage kits for the LSJ apart, or were they all released at about the same time?
Since that was the main question in the original post I'm repeating it...

As I've understood it, the "Performance Division" was pretty much shut down, but "GM Performance Parts" was the most profitable sector in GM last fiscal year - and there are no signs of that division closnig down.

Are you sure - the newly minted and shown "2011 Chevy Aveo RS & Buick GS" are GMPD/GMPP co-developed products...?

The word from a popular car magazine (Motor Trend), when asking about the new product developments that GM has displayed and produced recently, (GM Marketing), "GMPD is still together, but as a really small group (1/8) of engineers it had orginally.." (GM Marketing) "The bulk of engineers (GMPD) have moved to Corvette, Chevy/Caddy (car&truck) and other brands (Buick/GMC/Holden/Opel/etc).. but the remaining set of engineers are providing "technical assistance" to the remaining brands.."

but if, from what analysts (CNBC/NYT) are saying "Until the Gov't loans are paid back, GM has it's hands tied..", "the loans can be paid back in the next two to three years.." if that is the case... (GM Marketing) most likely.. "GM will put back together a larger set of GMPD engineers to create new products and lines.." (LSX(600ci)/LNF/etc..)

i guess most likely, we'll see a stage 2 product come out in the fall of 2010'.. since there is a small group of GMPD engineers still "providing technical assistance.." if this true..

don't forget GM is still coming out with "performance enhanced edtions" that have been and are co-developed products with GMPD/GMPP in the next two to three years..

Over at gmtunersource.com they had a sit down with one of the engineers and my question to them reguarding an intake for the LNF was answered with a response GM has been giving many of us in reguards to not yet released products. This basically consisted of they cannot comment on up and coming products. I responded negatively saying that the cobalt is nearing end of life and will more than likely have to rely on the aftermarket, especially since the HHR will be ending production in July of this year which is some insight that the cobalt isn't too far behind. They responded agreeing with my comment on the aftermarket which prompted me to take action by contact vendors to work side by side with the cobalt community and Vararam has answerd the call. We have just started the process but I am optimistic Vararam with our help and information from past experiences can produce a product that can meet or exced OEM standard while having the flair, style, and proven performance this vendor has become known for.

is not the Performance Division being confused with Performance Parts? ~ I had understood they were completely separate entities.

post #6 was a little more on the original subject lines, but the main question still stands....

(I figured the subject line needed to be chosen to fit the category, and not necessarily sum up my post/question - maybe this move was in error?)

yep ur right (my bad) both are differrent divisons, I meant GMPD not GMPP..

GMPD creates enhanced performance vehicles and GMPP creates performance parts..

but the funny thing is both need each other to create enhanced performance vehicles with the performance parts.. is GMPD really closed?

ok, thanks for clearing that part up...

I'm not thinking that maybe I'm going to have to post in the LSJ section to get my main question answered...

Q: Did GM stagger the Stage kits for the LSJ apart, or were they all released at about the same time?

dont hold your breaths too long on vendors. unless they know about DI engines and how to get a intake to flow right, they'll make the same crap thats already out. I had talked to cpe over 6 months ago, called the ceo and the engineer, they were all hyped up and nothing so far. I should call again but those shops get busy with the cars they already are developing for.

soundjunky..

yes GM did stagger the release of each stage kit.. bcause of testing for each of the kits to work with the CARB standards in Cali..

if Cali didnt have CARB, the stage kits for both LSJ/LNF would have come out a long time ago.. since each kit was produced, each one had to meet crazy CARB requirements to pass and be legal for the highway/streets.. alot of states look at CARB as the gold standard..

bill duncan the gmpp engineer, had a thread on the website about intakes. I think they were testing them all to see what worked, what didnt, if they could rebrand one. hopefully they do end up making one themselves that actually works.

The GM stage kits for the LSJ were staggered... well kind of.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 were both released at the same time in April of 2006. The Stage 3 kit was released around November of 2006.
