LNF upgrade kit?

SEMA show release info in November.

The Cobalt kit will be 315 hp @ 4800 rpm [+55] = GM Part number 19212670.
The kit for 290 hp @ 5200 rpm [+30] is for the HHR with an automatic transmission.

"The Californa Air Resources Board (CARB) published a CARB cert for this tune today. It was executed on Aug 22nd. This means that this tune will be 50 state legal, does in fact exist, and is probably close to release.

From the cert:

"The LNF Turbocharged Ecotec Upgrade Kit includes a calibration update, two mass air flow/intake air temperature sensors (TMAP sensors) to replace the stock manifold absolute pressure sensor and the TMAP sensor, and installation hardware."

The hardware part number is 12626990.

The calibration part numbers are:

2007 auto trans : 12625958
2007 manual trans : 12625959
2008 auto trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625952
2008 manual trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625954
2008 auto trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625951
2008 manual trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625953

2008 chevy hhr auto trans : 12625956
2008 chevy hhr manual trans : 12625957
2008 chevy cobalt manual trans : 12625955

to bump another 55hp into a car even if it costs $1500 is worth it. thats another 20% more power.

my question is being that the tranny is only rated for 260hp, will it void the warrenty on the drivetrain.

It most likely won't void your warranty, but I foresee a lot of problems here and there over the next 2 years with people that have stage kits installed.

I wished GM could just put a little more money into the transmissions and beef them up a little. It would be worth it for customers to pay a little more

it cant if gm sells and "installs" it then they have to warrenty it

not gonna happen on the balts tho... the Cruze will be out before any changes could take effect, unless they upgrade for the 2009.5 models

I think that the Cruze was supposed to be built side by side with the cobalt for a period of time, so its certinatly possible.

good question.
but its not worth it when the same thing can be done for $200 with better results and (I say this having seen the track record of stage tunes) probably a much better tune.

I am glad to see a stage kit for the LNF. I wasn't sure if it would happen or not. I just hope that the stage tune isn't locked and can be modified for HP Tuners. I wonder how high GM is going to push the OEM turbo? Over 23 psi I guess if they are including the sensors.

That may be true however if they went through the trouble to get it emissions certified (ala stage 1 and stage 2) it probably will be. Stage 3 they didn't have any certs and labeled it for off road use only.

The carb certification is supposed to be a bitch to get as well.

qft. Generally the GMPP dealers are quality...the rest are 50/50 depending on the service manager.

My guess the reason they got it certified is twofold, A: its gonna be covered by warranty, and B: this is likely the calibration and sensor kit they will use for the 2010/11 LNF vehicles with 300+hp(Solstice, Sky, Camaro{rumors for 2011 base engine})

Theres no pricing yet.
