Local Tuner
Local Tuner
Okay, so Im still trying to decide what to do for a tune. Im debating between GM with the warranty, Trifecta, or a local custom. I finally found a local place, just a town over, that specializes in 4cyl. I stopped in today and was talking to the guy. He said he hasnt done a SS/TC yet, but I left him some info on the car, whats done to it, what I have planned, and what I want for the tune, and hes going to research the car and see what he can come up with.
The only thing Im wondering is he asked me what I planned for bolt ons to go with the tune. I said I already have an intake, and Im planning IC piping and a DP. He said he would also want to do a full turbo-back exhaust, fuel pump, and boost controller. This is my DD, and I dont want to go too nuts. I explained that too him, so we'll see what he comes up with.
What do you guys think? Is it necessary to be doing a fuel pump and boost controller? From what I hear they do great work here, so Ill see what he comes up with. The place is two shops combined....one specializes in 4cyl (eclipses, talons etc.) the other in 8cyl (any american muscle.) Any input?

Your in luck. There is a shop in Hopedale MA who specializes in the Ecotec and Cobalt's in particular. He has a dyno and you would be far from his first tune. SMG Motoring is the name of the shop, they are a vendor on here. You can call 5082444225 and talk to Fred. IDK if they are going to answer the first time but leave a message and if you can get in contact with him shoot me a PM and I'll take care of you.
The person who you talked to has no idea what they are talking about. There is much less involved in making power than what he mentioned. If you go to SMG I guarantee you will be satisfied.

Thats what I was thinking as far as the boost controller and fuel pump, it sounded like a waste to me. Im not sure if hes too familiar with the LNF. Im gonna give him time to research it, and then propose something to me. Ill contact SMG at some point as well and see what they say. Then I guess Ill compare those two with GM and Trifecta and make a decision. Thanks for the input so far guys. Anybody else with input feel free....
