Well, it's now official. Engine won't hand crank and is definitely seized
The culprit was almost certainly the oil feed line going into the turbo; the sleeve in this picture was filled with oil. We didn't dig deep enough to find where exactly it failed since my garage is north facing and temps are still chilly after Thursday's snowstorm.
Although the oil filter itself looked clean, there was an unmistakable and very telling metal sheen on the oil in the housing:
A big thank-you to both ECaulk and leemanfor for their time and diagnose!
Now to finance a new LDK. Who wants some flawless gun metal OZ Ultraleggeras?
I might also be interested in selling my ported head with Stage 3 cams, 82# valve springs etc etc.
I also have my black powder coated ported intake manifold with Powell v3 oil separator mod, welded on 5th injector, and LE5 TB that I might be persuaded to part with... PM me if interested!
It moved, just way to much resistance for being in neutral and having the plugs removed. The engine was mid stroke when I went to rotate it and it was fighting.
So what now Adrian? Going back to stock? Just going to run a crate ldk for awhile?
I will pm you.
Yeah I'm thinking of running the LDK as-is, with my 6758 assuming it is still OK. With a tune and E47 I should be able to run a conservative 380-400whp tune. Might transfer my built head, although that technically requires more labor plus transferring the neutral balance shafts making it more expensive. Also want beefier oil lines and heat wrap or ceramic coat the turbo. My goal is to get the car back on the road (track) for under $3K. I will have to sell some car parts to finance that though.
did this seriously all happen because that one little clamp wasn't tight?!?! jesus!
It's still unclear what exactly happened. Maybe the failed oil feed line is completely unrelated to the coolant issue but fact remains that the engine did get pretty hot. We won't know for sure until the engine comes out.
1. Bummer.
2. You guys still have track days with snow on the ground? That's awesome!
3. Did you ever touch that oil line or was it factory? Trying to determine whether this is an isolated incident or, could be a common issue for tracked vehicles.

2. We have open lapping year round, weather permitting. This particular day was 68F and sunny, real nice!
3. Stock lines that came with my 6758 from ZZP. Not sure if it's a recurring theme, but I do know that we will use beefier lines on the next engine
