MAP sensor questions

So as some of you know my MAP sensor is down for the count..gm ordered a new one but will take several weeks.

Some questions i have are..

I know the MAP sensor is the manifold absolute pressure sensor..what exactly does that do?

is their a upgrade for that sensor? as in a 3 bar sensor (such like the one in the mythical gm stage kit?)

Anyone know a company i could order one? i checked CED but didnt find it

Thanks!

The MAP sensors reads manifold vacuum or pressure. Pressure in the intake manifold is affected by engine speed, throttle opening, turbocharger boost pressure, intake air temperature (IAT), and barometric pressure (BARO). Under normal operation the greatest pressure that can exist in the intake manifold at ignition ON, engine OFF is equal to the BARO. When the vehicle is operated at wide-open throttle (WOT), the turbocharger can increase the pressure to near 240 kPa. The least manifold pressure occurs when the vehicle is decelerating and can range from 13-48 kPa.

There is an upgrade that comes in the stage 1 kits for the HHR im sure it would work but probably couldn't read it correctly because the wiring harness is different

I've gone through 13 of them. Dealership has replaced intercooler piping, spark plugs, injectors, complete engine harness and ecu. Still got a check engine light. Blows my mind the most is, the dealership says I'm the only one with this problem. I've blown sensors on start up in a sense so going to a 3bar don't think would fix my problem. Since im not blowing them because of boost, I'm blowing them because to little voltage getting to sensor for too long.
