my bov story
so if you have read my threads i have been going back and fourth for almost a year with compressor surge from a hks bov. i recently accuried a boost leak and the block off plate was only held on by two bolts. so i was fed up and threw on the stock bpv and hooked it up. i had a cel p2261 also. after hooking up the bpv the car sounds so much better!!!! no more surge like im feeding pegions at bk. the car used to buck and stutter at low boost... now so smooth and a nice clean smooth ride and boost @ 26 psi is holding up great. i had a leak from the block off plate and was only running 18 psi... now 26 psi nitto 555s ftw. so happy!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE EVERYONE DONT BUY A BOV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was hooked up correctly. it dosent take rocket science but i guess it does with this car... any ways stock bpv is so much better. my a/f ratio isnt all out of wack now either
I have to agree with HB on this one. After just tuning and driving in BBG's car with the atmospheric Hahn BOV on it, no issues from it. Car still has the MAF in the stock location too. Just needs to be tuned
1. make sure it is recirculated like stock, no tune is needed, but a tune is always nice to have.
or
2. get a re tune to accomidate the effects of venting to the atmosphere.
A simple re tune by BYT would have been the best bet...
It does not take much of any leak to cause an issue with these ecu's

if you tried running an atmopheric bov without recirculating it or without a maf relocation then your going to have issues. you cant tune for them without either of those mods that i listed either. that hahn bov is garbage too.
BYT, last i knew i thought you and termi were pretty much in agreement that a bov was really not necessary and you guys arent interested in running one in your own cars.
I mean as long as he's happy and the car is running properly is all that matters i would think. Plus a bov is really pointless with the stock turbo configuration. He really had nothing but issues with that bov right from the get-go so it seems like the most logical move for him at this point. It's all good either way, i just see no real reason to give him a hard time

Out of curiosity how would you tune for a car with a BOV and MAF in the stock location? Doesn't it go pig rich after every shift?

Yes very true, as you can do 2 things if you get an aftermarket BOV.
1. make sure it is recirculated like stock, no tune is needed, but a tune is always nice to have.
or
2. get a re tune to accomidate the effects of venting to the atmosphere.

The car will go rich regardless when you let off the throttle. It then burns off quickly while decelerating and the motor is still pumping. All of the Subaru guys used to say the same exact thing. I then posted logs of either setup while logging and showed there was no significant difference.
