My mind is playing game with me.... I think??
So I had to wash my k&n s.r.i filter but I couldnt afford to be without the car for a full 24 hours waiting for the filter to dry . So I ordered a new replacement filter, which I installed today and man oh man I took the car for a ride and I felt like it gain 50 bazillion hp lol jk. But seriously, I felt the car much lighter, more responsive, overall it felt really good. So I dont know if the new filter actually did help the performance on the car or if my mind is over reacting because it thinks with the install of the filter and the k&n sticker on my window just added instant hp. Has this happend to you guys?

Well if your filter was extremely clogged it could feel alot better with a freshly oiled filter.. are you offroading your balt? Lol the K&N i have on my ranger has yet to be cleaned with about 15K on her and alot of the riding down desert roads eating dust! And it does not take a full 24 hours just wash it with the recharge kit let it dry for a few hours and then oil and wait a few more. 4 hours tops to dry! that reminds me i should prolly clean the one in my truck... YAY! lol going to do it before i pass out!

Yeah the filter was dirty. I dont know how many miles It had since It was last washed. Ive put about 10k miles since I bought it and I hadnt washed it, and I dont remember how clean it was when I bought car. But I got kinda worried about washing the filter and 4 - 5 hours not being enought time to dry up and getting too much oil on my sensor. And some threads I read on here said to let it dry atleast 24 hour to fully dry up.
if it's taking them a full 24 hours to dry once oiled there using WAY to much filter oil! last time I cleaned my dirtbikes filter it was NASTY and still only took 4 hours of washing. drying, oiling, then drying again and she loved it lol purred like a lion wishes he could! lol if your really worried about it get a dryflow from AEM that matches your intake tube diameter!

Yeah when I usually clean the filter on my redline I let dry for 2-3 hours and I have never had any issues. But on most of threads I read ppl were complaining about the sensor getting to much oil on it and throwing codes. So now I have the old one off and ready to be clean and, ready to be put back on when this one gets dirty.

And yeah I was reading about the dry filter which can be wash and reused again. But I dont think they have the egg shaped filter like the k&n does, and I guess the matters because of the fuel trims or some thing like that I read.
The only way the maf gets oil on it is when you've put to much oil on the filter, for some reason ppl seem to think you have to coat the living **** out of it. I do 2 light coats, its just like spray paint, I still get the red color like you should and I don't get oil transfer to my hands.
I have the AEM dry filter and its the come type it came with the cold air. I just put it in a bucket of warm water and spray it with purple power, let it set for a min or so then back in the bucket til it's clean and let it dry not probs with it.
I have a K&N on both my TC and my Z28 - I carry a spare for each. When its time for a cleaning, I pull the filter, replace it with the spare. I then clean the dirty one, oil it properly and set it aside. I generally let it dry a day, then bag it against dust, and I've been happy.
Speaking of which, its way overdue for the Z!
