I made a thread on this awhile back with a cheap quick fix. It actually held together for me for several track days then failed finally again. Morad Parts sells salvage parts and can get you the linkage clamp pieces by themselves.

+1 I have the TWM piece and its great. I broke two plastic linkage pieces from NLS'ing 2nd-3rd gear. I have had absolutely no issues since installing the TWM piece.

My stock linkage just broke tonight, after 40k miles and well over 100 passes. Anyone have a link to a cheap easy fix.

oh?

I occasionally have a goobered shift for no apparent reason... then yesterday I was cleaning the car and noticed alot of plastic "shavings" all over and around my shifter mechanism (under the boot)...

I looked at the link and didn't see anything aside from a whole shifter assembly;
if there is some kind of kid that upgrades a flaw in the factory setup, that I would be interested in, but I am not interested in an aftermarket shifter.

oh?

now I'm mildly concerned...

EDIT: nevermind;
even though I found no link on their site, or via the page linked earlier, I opened the video on the bottom of the SS/TC page in Youtube (instead of streamed to their page) - on that page is the link.

Wow... $100.

http://www.twmperformance.com/cobaltcableclamp.htm

Is nothing cheap anymore?

thanks but I have a spare "parts" car at the moment...

before I read this thread I was thinking that it's weird that my 20 year old GM-FWD seems to shift better than my cobalt ~ then again it doesn't have any plastic bits on the shifter assembly...

I broke two linkage pieces before installing the TWM piece. Just pull the shift cable with your hand. You just have to pull slowly and you can feel it going into different gears. You should be able to get it into 4th gear with no problem.

At the shifter. Pull on the cable that the broken linkage was connected to.

Yea you can use the clutch. If you're currently in 3rd gear, you should actually have to push the cable forward to reach 4th.
