In need of a Mod! Advice needed.
So I decided to be a little rough on my car and try NLS and Launch Control and just to get a feel for my new car. I've been pretty nice to it up until last night.
I went to a abandoned street with a friend who also wanted to practice on his GTI.
We didn't race the street was to narrow and we wanted to be safe while being illegal
That night I noticed something guys, I need a driver mod!!!!!!
I missed gears, I think I NLS'ed way to early, Launched controlled terribly... I sucked!
So I'm asking how do I upgrade this mod called a driver? At what RPM is best for NLS, and any advice would be appreciated. The speed felt great, I just think I didn't perform as well as the car was meant to. I wanna get better, but good practice makes perfect not bad practice.
Thanks

If you want to. I tried that and couldn't get the car to hook with that either! 4500rpm is crazy high to be launching the car with the stock LC.
At the track I usually hold it around 2500 and leave with a quick slip! Every track is different tho!

Im only gonna touch on the NLS aspect, not launch control... although i agree with Nick on the rpms with it.
I NLS atleast once a week in my SS but i still get on it atleast once a day. When i NLS I shift fast but not hard at 6k you wanna be quick not forceful. When you finally get the hang of it, youll be in the next gear before she hits the rev limiter and you should only hear one pop, if any.. if you hear pop pop pop you prolly took too long and it bounced the rev limiter.
with traction off NLS ing 1st to 2nd at 6k she just spins for about 2 secs. then hooks. so it actually hurts my times.. i get better races outta reg shifting the car 1 to 2 then NLS to 3rd... my races normally end with me in 3rd i never hold it out... too many cops and what not..
Best advice, just practice til you get the hang of it, or the clutch will allow... lol

I tried LC for the for the first time yesterday...wierd..the car kinda LOPES (rum..rum..rum..) between 4500-5000ish Anyway, the SUM BITCH really smokes the tires off the line. No BUENO! I's rather launch myself...scooting from lower RPM and letting it slip a little first. Just my take.
haha, yeah it'd be even wierder if you were in colorado
Anyway, why does the owners manual tell us to fully depress the fuel and clutch. Am I just releasing the clutch to fast?
I never use the launch control. I only use NLS for 2-3 and on occasion 3-4. NLS requires you really getting good at shifting the car first. Slow is smooth smooth is fast. It is not forcing anything.
I see you are in Colorado that's cool, where abouts?

if you are all stock, i reccomend the following. turn off traction control. do not use launch control. bring rpm's up to 2000-2500. while quickly slipping clutch out, apply more gas at the same time. all in one fluid motion. for nls i always shift at 5800. it always worked for me.
I find that 2k-2.5k rpm is the perfect launch at everytime... but it does need that you practice to make perfect .. I'm feel that I'm pretty good now, but it took a good 6 months of practice since it was my 1st manual tranny...
