new guy here with turbo upgrade problem

new guy to forum but not to cobalt ss cars. my first was an 05 ss/sc. my new toy is an 09 ss/tc. i recently had the turbo upgrade installed and was pleased with the increase in performance. i know that there are other tunes out there but this works for me and keeps my warranty intact. i noticed that i could stomp the pedal in second gear and it would break the tires loose and go like crazy. it doesn't do that any more. boost goes up to 21 psi and stays there and it pulls strong and smooth. it just doesn't seem to have that real snappy jump breaking the tires loose like it did when it was first installed. i was wondering if this might have something to do with the learn down portion of the programming. anybody out there had this same issue. there are no other upgrades to the car.

Are there any other adverse effects other than it just feeling like it's not as quick? From my understanding the GM Stage 1 kit removes the learn down feature as there are plenty others that have added bolt-ons in addition to the kit.

My car doesn't break the tires loose in 2nd all the time either, it just depends on the road and temperature...among other things. Just food for thought.

Could be weather or knock retard. Check your TMAP on your coldside pipe to make sure it tight.

Ya I agree with weather and tire wear. Some days if its cold I'll spin all the time, when its hot I dont..

yea probably temperature related. if you had the gms1 installed in winter you'll spin all day on the stock summer tires. now that its warm the summer tires get sticky so better traction

1st through 3rd are just pointless for me.... but then again I know nothing about tuning...

Weather, heat, and hummidity all play into how the car reacts... these cars are monsters when warmed up but the outside temp and moisture all make the car sluggish and boring.

You could also be going into the "its slow again feeling" that everyone has... after awhile the novelty of the cars speed wears off and feels slow again.

more to the story. i had to have the ignition switch replaced a couple of weeks ago. the tech disconnected the battery while the switch was being replaced. when i picked it up and took it out on the road i hit the gas hard in second and it broke the tires loose and took off like a missile. that was a couple of weeks ago. now its back to the condition i described above.

I'd rather hook. But yes, Term and BYT and Blueberry are all quite capable tuners.

The GM stage kit does not "remove" the learn down, it does however raise it.

My car will break the tires loose in second, but I have noticed that in the last week due to the high temps that the tires are very sticky and don't break loose nearly as easily. The car still feels like it pulls hard, so there is a minimal loss of power. I say minimal loss of power because due IAT1s being so high (around 95 - 110) the car is pulling some timing as well as I have seen a touch of knock rolling into WOT. I will blame the timing and knock on the GM stage tune (which the timing tables are kind of fubar... not sure what GM was thinking) but I will be fixing them as soon as I tune the car. I have 3K on the car now so I will start diving into tuning soon, as my HPTuners cable has been calling me... hehe.

plus hotter weather = greater traction on the roads with them being hot.

The only reason why I like summer

plus you live near me and we're experiencing 90* heat today too!
