No boost in 1st gear!!!! LNF
No boost in 1st gear!!!! LNF
Hey guys, 2 days ago I noticed that the turbo gauge wouldn't go past 0 psi. I stepped on gas and the car felt slow. Then today I drove my Cobalt SS tc and the turbo seems to work but It can't reach any psi in 1st gear. Then 2nd,3rd, .. boost will be aaound 10psi. Any idea what it can be?
Boost leak, vacuum leak, dirty map sensor (putting your car into a limp mode) honestly sounds like a boost or vacuum though. When my car has a dirty map it sputters for a bit then goes into limp mode.
In the right side near the motor I saw a hose that has another hose conneced in the middle and it is unattached and it is wrapped with some sort of sticky black cloth. COULD THIS BE THE PROBLEM?
That plastic hose is the evap hose. Goes to ur canister back by the fuel tank and pushes fuel vapors into intake. Car won't run rite with that not connected but it wouldn't cause loss of boost. U have a leak somewhere. Check ur charge pipes and take off bumper and see if intercooler is cracked
It builds boost in any gear... Including reverse. Boost leak if it doesn't most likely.
Probaby builds boost in 2nd on because it's a longer gear/more load. Turbo can build a little boost but is over spinning trying to create it.

Yep not enough load to get much over 10 psi in first normally. Stock turbo with my wg rod shortened 6 turns from stock I used to hit 21-22 psi in 1st but normally it was spinning so badly and first was from 0- redline in the blink of an eye so I had to look at the data logs of my car to see it hit 245-250 kpa.

Yes the torque percentage is limited in 1st normally. I had mine cranked to 100% where I normally leave it around 55-65%. I did this so I could do long burnouts and if I got the throttle modulation just right it was pretty damn fast off the line that way.
Lol never thought of that, throw in the burnout tune for competitions lol
Update!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys, I just came back from the dealership and the problem was a crack in the intercooler. Lucky for me the warranty will cover the repair and thanks to all who tried to help.
