No Boost (unless I reset the battery)

I am starting a new thread as this seems to be a different issue. I'm sure this is not a new problem but I searched for it and couldn't find anything.

Old thread

My original complaint was that the engine seemed to be low on pressure (only making 15psi). After investigation it was determined that my tune from Trifecta was maybe just a stock tune and not a 23psi tune.

Vince just sent me a new tune to try. Long story short, I am now getting up to 20psi but under a hard enough load the ecu decides it doesnt like it and kills all boost. If I reset my battery it is back up to 20psi until I push just a little too much and then it cuts out again and gives me no boost. Doesnt appear to be any relevant trouble codes.

I double checked boost leaks and none, MAP sensors are still working fine and look fine.

I'd like to get some ideas from you guys as to what would cause this? Is this a tuning issue or a sensor issue? I can log sensors if there is something that might point to something.

Thanks

How do you know the map sensor is fine? Sounds like you have a reduce engine power issue..

The map sensors have about 25 miles on them, they still look fine and they each read correct pressures.

I agree there is a safe mode that the engine is going to it seems...how would a guy go about figuring out why? Appears to have something to do with a high-load situation that the ECU doesnt like.

I dont know much about these motors, but I have a feeling I will shortly.

Have you put a scanner on it? Just because you don't see a MIL, it doesn't mean there isn't a stored code. You might have an overboost code or under boost code.

When you say that you are checking for boost leaks, what do you mean exactly? If it's a visual check, that will do you no good.

Edit: I just saw your other thread. This is an LNF in a kit car. The disparaging readings between the two AP sensors is data the ECU is understanding as a closed throttle plate, so it is triggering the solenoid to release pressure. This sounds like the good old baro press code. In the tune, did Vince scale the sensors correctly of being 3 bars? If you put in 3bars, did you buy the correct o-ring for sealing? The o-ring that comes with them is greenish blue and is too small to seal on our piping.

I uploaded the old tune, 15 psi, no issues. Im on my third attempt trying to upload the new tune again and it seems like its not uploading it. The are no uploading errors, I go to record some pulls and its acting like it's still on the 15psi tune. When I did this yesterday it took two tries to upload it before the boost pressure went up to 20 psi. Uploaded it now 4 times and it only goes to 15psi. It went to 20psi yesterday until the ecu cut off all boost. I'm using trifecta, am I missing something?

Case closed. Turns out Vince did not tune it for my upgraded MAP sensors. He sent a new file and now it is making about 22psi in 2nd gear and not going into safe mode.

SSlowbalt, sorry I did not see your response earlier. Yea I did a pressure check not by visual, but with air pressure. And yes I did get the upgraded (thicker) o-rings on the MAP sensors.
I assumed that Vince knew I was using the new senors and I thought I told him that, but I'm sure that detail was lost over the months of conversation. The new tune is working good for now. I'll have to wait for the next track event in a couple of weeks to try it out.

Yup. Baro pressure code. Glad you got it fixed!
