oil filter cap size

can someone tell me the correct size socket fits my oil filter cap on my 2007 ss supercharged?? 2.0 ltr. eng. thanks

wrong section my friend, but if it's the same as the LNF it should be 1 1/4" socket I believe

32mm, but 1 1/4" works the same.

will a socket even work seeing as its square. i should try, would work better then a wrench

If you're going to an auto parts store to get a socket, you might as well get the one specifically made for the cap. It's short so it fits in easily. I believe I found it over by the oil accessories (filter wrenches, etc.).

Advance sells one for $12. It's a short 32 mm socket for ecotecs.

I forget whether I was able to get a normal 1/2 drive socket in there or had to resort to some other method. But I know using a standard socket didn't go so well. With the special socket you can just place it on the cap and then feed an extension down to it. Very little clearance over the cap on an LNF, I would imagine other versions of the ecotec are the same.
