Oils
i know this has been asked before but search doesnt work for me, is it ok to run 0w30? i changed the oil today useing that mobil 1 0w 30 with an oil additive
I discussed this with John Powell on another forum. Our LNF's were designed for 5w-30 Mobil 1. I use the Extended Performance stuff. Bill Duncan, the GM Engineer had posted in the past that the cam actuators get funky on 0w-30 after the oil breaks down a bit. I doubt 0w-40 would be any better.
Stick with 5w-30 Mobil 1.

ok im only testing this for MPG, itll only be in for 5k miles thats why i added the oil additive from BG its good ****. in the owners manual it said 5w30 and 0w30 for the 2.2 and 2.4
If by breakdown you mean was dirtier sooner. That was actually the better oil (pennzoil) cleaning the motor that much better. Dirty oil = good oil.
Read up on oil.
I use Pennzoil Ultra. There is no better oil on the market right now and helps cut down on our blow by significantly. Since the oil is designed for high performance cars only. Plus independent test shows that it has nothing even within sight as far as sheering, pressure, etc. It's a great oil and I'd suggest reading up at bobistheoilguy.com
