Popping noise when shifting gears

First of all, I got my car a month ago with 16k miles on it, completely stock and unmodified. I recently I installed a zzp and K&n intake. It has done this before I installed these mods also... If I attempt to shift the car with easing the clutch out and shifting properly, it seems like there's a popping coming from somewhere. I ride the clutch a bit between shifting gears it really doesn't pop. It mostly does it between first and second and rarely between second to third. I'm wondering if anyone might know what it might be or if I'm doing something wrong? I just recently starting driving a manual a month ago, but my buddy who drives a manual mustang said he noticed it when I let him drive my car the other day. If anyone has any insight it'd be helpful.

is it just a sound or does your car jerk all to hell?

Ya some times it'll jerk you to hell and back. It's like it's not hooking up right or something. I normally shift the car at 2500-3000 rpms, if that matters at all or not.

I was gonna say it sounds like the after fire popping (people call it backfire) between shifts. But I don't think the car would jerk from that.

Can you get a video?

Haha. I have no idea how I would get a video of the car doing it.

It seems like its not suppose to happen though. It gets jerky a bit when I shift between those gears and I honestly don't think it's suppose to do it at all.

I just drove home from the gfs house and babied the clutch and it didn't do it one bit. I feathered it out and kind of rode it a bit when I shifted and it didn't jerk one time nor did it pop.

No it's not lowered either.

you should check to make sure it's stock, someone might've had it before you an demodded most of it.. When I first put my catless DP on it had a nice little pop&rumble shifting from 1-2

Haha. The car is definitely stock. There was 2 owners before me and I knew both of them. One was my dads friend which is 52, he had it for 2 years and put 15,800 miles and only drove it on good summer days and the second owner was his daughter, and she put 400 miles on and sold it to a local dealership to get an trailblazer cause she wanted something bigger cause she has 2 kids. When I found out they got rid of it I had to see what the dealership would give me for my trade for my g6. They just happen to give me a good deal on it and I came home 4 days later with it.

Like I stated above, if I baby the clutch it doesn't do it. Could my clutch be the problem?

bad endlinks or mounts? but u said it has 16k on it so it still pretty new

the popping should be normal, i think it works like pressure builds up in between shifts(back pressure?) and it shoots out like a pop when shifting

the jerking could be you not being used to the cobalt? maybe

The more I think about it does sound like a clicking noise more than a pop. I've took it into consideration too that I'm not fully use to driving a manual yet too. If I'm going fast and going through the gears I shift it fine and it doesn't hesitate or anything one bit. It just does it when when I barely get on it. I just don't want it to continue and have it mess something up. I'll give it a week or so and I'll go from there. More I think about it, I might just be paranoid from making a switch to a manual from all the other autos I've driven.

Sounds like the usual 2700 rpm pop i get when I let off too slowly into second. Just a simple backfire me thinks.

If its a burping, poping sound mine has done it since the day I went to a catless dp, I love it! But if its a click poping sound that's most likely from not rev matching properly but it shouldn't jerk you from hell and back, shift faster and unloaded smooth and quick

check the transmission mount. I had jerking and when when I upgraded the mounts, completely gone. Just understand that you will have some cabin vibration at times if you let off the clutch too late.

If you bought it from a dealership, did they give you a warranty on it? Some dealers do 12 mo. / 12k mi. warranties on cars that aren't that old. If so, I'd take it in and see if they can diagnose...
