Problem with my halo headlights... need help
ok... so i was riding around earlier in my 08 cobalt turbo and all my gauge lights just went out, i was like wtf. So i got out of the car and my headlights were working but the halo rings weren't. I checked my taillights and they only work when im pushing the brakes. so i took my headlights out and checked the plugs but they looked normal. any suggestions?? i need help. thanks guys
yeah it would be your running lights for both the halo ring and tail lights. check the fuse. if its not the fuse it could be wiring fried or something to that effect. Hope its the fuse!
yeah i was looking for that fuse but its not under the hood with all the other fuses... i couldnt find it
I dont remember for sure but on your passenger side of your console right under the glove box to the left there is a panel that comes off with a good tug theres a bunch more fuses there but i dont know for sure if thats where the one youd need is. ( have you consolted your users manual?)
Ok here is some advice for you , check the fuse in the engine bay and replace it with a higher capacity one . The stock fuse was only meant for a certain amp which the Halo's exceed, Mine burnt out the BAR in the halo lens but the LED's and halo rings still operate just fine . It will either be listed as the gauge/cluster or daytime running or brake lights . I can't remember but I do remember it was in the middle of the fuse box in the engine bay, I had to use I higher capacity fuse or it would blow all the time, it's not a short , don't worry the only thing in between the fuse it the light switch in the steering column and I have been running mine for a LONG time with no problems , the switch feels hot but if you notice it even gets hot with the stock lamps.
I'll bet you it's the fuse box in the engine bay not the cabin fuse box

i agree it would be really odd to wire the headlights into a fuse inside the car when the fuse box is right there lol.

ok i just checked the drl fuse and it wasnt blown... anymore suggestions??
If you are blowing a fuse by drawing too much current, find the (aftermarket) item that is drawing too much, and run a new fused line from the battery to a relay to power that instead. Use the stock wiring to trigger the relay.
DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a reason fuses are rated at what they are. They arent just supposed to blow in a full short, they are designed to blow BEFORE YOUR WIRING MELTS AND BURNS YOUR CAR DOWN. If you replace the fuse with a higher amperage rating, you could be going beyond the rating of the wire, which means when there is a draw on the wiring, it begins to heat up. Give it long enough and it melts through the insulation on the wiring, give it longer and it ignites said insulation starting an electrical fire - all while your "upgraded" fuse is happy as hell and doesnt blow.

When my girl got an aftermarket **** installed in her car when I was gone...it was fused to an ignition wire with a 10 amp fuse...sometimes it would blow and her car wouldn't start. I took it to them to fix and they told me they would jus put a bigger fuse in. I said **** that...I can do that myself. Thats not a fix...
I have the wire schmatic for 05-07 in my car... I will get it during lunch in about an hour and see what all the things you have common and see if I can help find the issue...what are you halos wired to?
does your licence plate lamp work? what about the marker lights on the sides?

Thank you for saying that. I completely agree...there is a reason they are 10 amp fuses in there. They are designed to be the weak point in the electrical system so they blow instead of something more expensive or more important.
