Question for HP Tuners users on a Trifecta tune
Do you know if HP Tuners can be used over a Trifecta tune or is the tune locked somehow?
I'm thinking about learning a thing or 3 about tuning, but want to keep my stock ECM stock.
I'm running Trifecta in a second ECM.
Any insight is appreciated.

On Trifectas website it used to specifically say he didn't lock the ECM.
Edit: Here it is: http://www.trifectaperformance.com/faq.aspx#Q9

But understanding all the tables and how all the tables interact is far superior to just knowing spark and boost
Edit: And I've fixed up a few Trifecta tunes myself, so there is room to gain

When I went with Trifecta last fall I didn't know I was going to get into modding the intake, exhaust, CP, ect. I thought it was a good basic tune for my DD. Now that I have learned the potential of the LNF, I want to explore the possibilities myself. Looks like I'll order up HPT and see what's what.
As I add mods, I don't want to have to pay for each retune, datalog, ect. Cars are my hobby, so I decided to go the HPT route. That's what I should have done in the first place.
Thanks.

yea, I dont know anything about tuning a car but I think I want to learn and if the LNF is easy. then maybe i'll fork out the cash and wing it" By the way whats the difference between the two different HPtuner packages? and which one is more recommended, and for what reason?
Trifecta's are good but safe but conservative. There is lots of room for improvement with them

HP Tuners is ordered, should have it in 2-3 days.
I got an email from Trifecta saying their tune isn't locked but they cannot say if there will be any compatibility issues with his tune & other tuning software.
Time will tell.
Lots for the geek in me to learn now.

I was able to read the trifecta tune and save the file but HPT will not open it. Bill says it's an OS compatability issue and they don't support that tune. If someone can open it or know how, please PM me. Thanks.
