Quick HP gains?

Hey guys, i hear that just deleting your muffler was an easy way to gain a little more HP and make your car sound alot better. I have seen some vids and have some time to waste and was wondering if this is true or not. Also, is their a How To thread for this?

2nd, is their anything i can do to my stock air box to get me a little more HP (if so please point me to the correct thread)?

Thanks in advance guys!

Here is the air box mod link

As far as hp gains from muffler delete our muffler flows well I think it is more for the sound that it is done. Lots here have done it though. The 3'' dp gives good gains and my stock muffler after a while got pretty loud now sounds way better from the better flow of the dp.

A tune!

A muffler delete probably won't add you any HP and the Airbox Mod may help a bit but the car will just learn it down. Without a tune you will not see any HP gains.

Like BartSS Said get a DP and a Tune.

um... you cut off muffler...weld new pipe in.

Muffler delete is only a sound mod.

airbox mod well...like the others said even if it provides any gains what so ever which are so very minimal, the stock ecu will relearn them down. You need the gmpp stage 1 kit or a after market tune.

Best bang for the buck (after stage kit or tune) is the down pipe, and throw on a k&n filter (stock box) as imo all the current intakes are crap and have to be specifically tuned for.

The stock muffler can't be very restrictive ....... With my catless downpipe on my car is pretty damn loud when you get on it . I think the dual cat's and the turbo are the main mufflers on this car .

the stock exhaust isnt restrictive, its the downpipe that restricts a little.

Tune is the best mod for this car. You can easily reach ~300whp and 330wtq+ on a tune alone. Downpipe is the next best mod IMO.
