Exclamation rear brakes

today I took my tc in to get my brakes checked becuz i heard grinding noise in the rear. i was told that both side are worn evenly so that means its not covered under warranty and i also need rotors. here is the f**ked part, for some reason i cant find any rotors and brakes. stupid autozone has some but its the same part number for the sc. the service writer said gm doesnt even have pads and rotors for the car yet and would have to order them from the place where the car is exactly put together at. the figures on the parts are extremely high. are there any alternatives?

Ya dood it's a shitty situation for the ss/tc right now, it's unbelievable that NOBODY has yet to release a rotor/pad(front/rear) for the ss/tc but it's a sad truth we've had to accept. R1 Concepts said they are working on some replacement ones but didn't have a release date for me, just that they'd shoot me a PM soon as they have em done.

I contacted someone today internally within GM who forwarded this on to program management. Unfortunately many people are already gone for X-mas vacation and everyone has 2 weeks off until the first week of January, so there probably won't be updates to this for the next few weeks.

Wow. Freaking Awesome. Everyone at GM gets 2 weeks vacation, but the CEO's want to take my tax money to fund it. BS.

to the OP, how many miles on the car? I am about to tick over 12,000.

Part of the UAW contract, I don't complain. Every company we work with is shut down too. GM is actually making us take vacation days (mandatory vacation) for the 22nd and 23rd (comes out of our 2008 days or 2009 if we have used them all already) so they can keep the buildings closed/machines off/thermostat turned way down for longer for cash savings.

i find it hard to believe that my right rear brake and rotor is bad at 9500 miles. the ******* at gm said that they wont cover it under warranty. they claim its the way i drive but its funny how the front brakes are perfectly good. i asked them to have another tech look at the breaks again and they told me "my men knows what there doing and if you want your brakes looked at go to another dealer. im gettin tired of gm already

Just threaten them with a lawyer and you will get what you want trust me I got a free clutch and it was installed for free I bought my car with 6000 miles on it and at 7000 my clutch went out they tried to blame it on me but just mentioned the lawyer and they shut up.

Blackrocky, are the brakes worn on both sides of the rotor or just the insides? Go look for yourself, don't go on what they say. If you don't know what you are looking for specifically take some pictures of both sides of the rotor surface from both sides and post them up.

He only mentioned the pads. Are people having issues getting the rotors too? I thought it was just the pads?

they must have figured they had spare time to release the parts, didn't think people were gonna wear through them so fast

i took the car to where i got the it from just to see if they would say the same thing. i looked at it myself im positively sure its the inside pad. the inside rotor is even scored deep. the left rear is a little scored and the pads are good but not making any grinding noise like the right rear. im starting to think the piston is not going back into the bore all the way and dragging on the rotor. i tried telling the ******* that its a caliper defect but he was sure his techs knew what they were doin

Yeah but brake pads is one thing you cant drive car without. GM should have had ample supply before releasing the car to the public.
