Removing headliner
And I used T shirt fabric on mine. Looks good, held good. I used advance auto parts heavy duty high temp headliner adhesive. The original owner used a nylon type of fabric. Don't use that. I recommend a cotton fabric. Any cotton fabric and you will never have any issues with drooping.
Nakaiya21, your Headliner looks good. IMO looks better then mine.
FasterIsBetter, I used fabric paint on my trim piece and i haven't had any issues with it. I'm sure its not the right paint to use but its what i had next to me at the time.

I did the headliner in my parents old conversion van years ago.. Sprayed both the form and fabric with the adhesive, let it set up, then attached the new fabric to the form. Seemed to hold better that way... Also, the star bit bolts are size T25, in case anyone needs it..
Suede Headliner Kits
Thats the link that i got my Material from. It just came as a kit with the adhesive already in it.

I went and bought the 108x60 and i ended up getting like 112x62 one on there. Wanted to make sure that if i messed up on something i might be able to fix it with some left overs. So far i have only done the headliner still need to do the sunroof. i don't think i will try doing the visors because i don't think i would have the talent to make them come out good looking. but i have a little under 4'x62 left of actual usable material.
Ok the material I used looks white but was actually the same color grey that matches the seats. I was actually surprised that I could find material that matched color and texture for the two-toned interior. I painted all of the trim and pillars with plastic fusion duplicolor and I used a special rubber paint for the rubber trim (can't remeber what you call it, but you can find it locally). The key to making paint last on plastic is very light sanding. Go too far and you will etch the texturing.
The color now is a deep charcoal grey suede. My upholstery guy gave me the info for a local place so I have no idea how to buy it bulk. If I get a chance later today I will pull the cover off the car and grab a pic for posting.
When I covered the headliner I also wrapped the rear deck as well. That is also a little more intense than I first imagined (the tabs on the piece are pretty fragile and trying to get it to fit once wrapped is a pita. I ended up having that redone as well.
All in all I learned a pretty good lesson. I have since gone on to replace Miata interiors and upholstery and I can say with certainty that in some respects this was a bit trickier. Fitment is something to be very aware of with wrapping. Also, I hate sunroofs.
Small word of caution on visors. I wrapped mine and they turned out pretty bad. To do them right you will need to take them apart which involves peeling them open (unless you find a better way). Don't wrap on top of what is there....remove the oem and padding. Also use a heavy duty epoxy when gluing them back together and let them dry overnight. Don't try to salvage the mirrors or pocket. They are more trouble than they are worth.
