In the long run it's cheaper to remove the stock trans when it's in one piece haha

Hey now. I went all out with my zfr and danced with fire as long as possible. I beat the **** out of my lnf stock trans until it shattered. I knew it was just a ticking time bomb and it was gonna go. I like breaking things.

I'll probably do the same thing in the future. My stock trans doesn't have LSD so I'm thinking I should just let it in until it goes even if I'm on a bigger turbo.

lol I did the exact same thing. Only in my case the fun only lasted 12 laps. I had just been hoping for a little more than that ;-)

Come to think of it, if it broke at my altitude after 12 laps, it probably wouldn't have lasted beyond lap 2 had I been at sea level...

Better than these 3.82s with a ZFR, that's for sure.

Is there anyway with tuning to possibly change that spool time? I mean I baby the car. In fact I hardly drive it. But when I do get fully tuned I want some fun with it.

"I want some fun with it" - translation: say farewell to the transmission.

No way of changing spool time, you can lower the boost and boost ramp.

If you want to save money buy a lsj trans and buy the gmpp clutch. Add in some nice boost ramp and it should work well. If you have the money buy a trans from fmsr or zzp.

not sure ZZP do any trans other than their fine f40 upgrade too many issues with silly installs from purchasers?
fmsr? waiting for Rudy to tell what the upgrades are for $999 additional.
we rebuild and sell a lot of transmissions. funnily enough the first shop EVER to rebuild an F35 for Cobalt in fall 2004. Before Cobalt went on sale. Just to point out that we do have a clue how to fix them.

What's your cost on swapping out final drives from 3.82 to 4.05 on a Trans that would be sent to you?

That clutch is going to hold the power, hence causing more stress on the trans, that's why I said gmpp.

Zzp does only offer the f40 hence why I said "if you have the money" I also never said you(Powell) don't know about cobalt transmissions, I'm sure you do. A transmission from you would be another option.

Don't know what he means by "upgraded" but here's a list.

Cryogenically & Thermal heat treated transmission components
FMSR Stage II preload specs

the bearings in the transmission of an F35 are pretty much all special purpose to the transmission and hard to get. One set was on national backorder from France fo 8 months. Upgraded? I would sure like to see what that means. case bolts and dowl pins upgraded? why do you upgrade a locating dowel in the case? Upgrading the crush sleeve mystifies me, its not upgradable. its a crush sleeve. You can eliminate it with a solid bushing perhaps. I am not here to bash another vendor, but this doesnt add up to me, so thats why I ask. I also dont know how torque ratings are established for an aftermarket transmission rebuild; nothing detailed here increases as far as i can see, torque capacity.

RIM finishing gears is very popular we get it done a lot on Corvettes, it reduces friction and may well incrementally improve surface strength but the only way to stop the third gear breaking in my opinion is to make a new gear. Those are available at Emco at about 1000.00 per set by three sets of gears (close ratio 2,3,4) at a time.

So for the OP if I was to do this, the transmission would be up to about 7,000 dollars with no real way of establishing a revised torque capacity, and way more $ than the FMSR trans. But it would not have the upgraded bearings sleeve bolts and dowel pins. I should mention that the shift rails, the shift forks the synchros which are normally a replacement item in many transmissions never seem to fail in the F35. The second gear blocker ring fails its high strength steel.... Also I would not willingly build one to this spec as the price is retarded and I dont want to be on the other end of the phone when it gets broken....lol
