RPD package being installed

So I got an email last week that my RPD package finally came in

So I dropped off my car last night at the dealer. They told me they would need the car for the day. most likely all day because they have never installed one before.

so I swapped my ECU just in case and left my car there. Hopefully I get a call today saying its installed. I really dont think they do anything with the ECU for the RPD package. I hope not

If they do, I might be screwed until a tuner can flash the parameters for the RPD package onto my Tooned ECU

but I honestly dont think they do anything with the ECU...

Ill post pics when its installed.

RPD works off the BCM....I cannot believe your letting them replace that BCM harness. I just cannot see letting someone do that to my car...I was shocked when I looked up the harness thinking like most car manufactures do, they would have hte connections in the a-pillar but just didnt add it as an option. RPD cars use a completely different BCM harness.

Whats the labor time they have quoted you?

Yea.....Reason I was asking what the dealer was charging to replace the harness! It can be done...Its just crazy expensive and dashdaq is actually better. I would imagine the coupes could even make it fit just like the RPD using the pillar that has the RPD

I wonder how possible this would be, and what it would look like.

What I and boosted4dr are referring to is modifying the stock RPD pillar gauge mount to accept the DashDAQ.

Somebody needs to come out with RPD+standard gauge pods for those that already have the RPD, but want the flexibility of having an Intercepter or something in their car too.

I thought I had seen somewhere that somebody was buying or had bought one. They would have to have them in case one broke anyway I'd imagine. It's most likely not in stock at most dealerships though since it's basically only now on several-month-old... SS... Coupe... Cobalts... from Chevrolet... and not likely to get damaged or just go out. It's just on such a super-small part of their line to warrant having easy accessibility to them.

It's pretty much a small linux running computer that can plug into your diagnostic port and runs a bus reading program. What's so cool about it is how in-depth, comprehensive, and programmable/customizable it is.

If you like the RPD, you'll likely love that thing. It's like an RPD on steroids. Since it's a computer in its own right, you can run other things on it, like GPS software, MP3 player software, etc.

That is my debate. Getting HPT or the dashdaq. I am leaning to HPT due to the fact that I have a lap top that can be dedicated to my car and that way I can do all the monitoring I need right? Don't get me wrong I like all the features that the dashdaq has, but what use are those features if I don't have a way to improve upon them.

I think its possible....just requires some fabbing. I just hate to install it and not have it look as factory as possible. I hate things stuck in the window...just like a radar dector mount of gps mount.

The main issue is the mount on the dashdaq....But that shouldnt be to hard to fab something up. If I end up with one, I'm going to try to find someway to mount it to look professional vs just a suction cup.

I really like my RPD. I have it set to the digital speedometer + G-meter and the shift indicator with the RPM bars. I set the shift points from 500 RPM to 6100 RPM so every bar is about 1000 RPM. If I see 2-3 bars, I shift for fuel economy. I'm so addicted to this setup that I get confused looking at the analog speedometer.

The only negatives of the RPD:
-Doesn't record peak lateral Gs, it resets everytime you start the car.
-No datalogging capabilities
-Not enough functions, can't be totally customized - has pre-established gauges

The positives:
-Clean and integrated setup
-Adds some flair to the interior
