RPD package being installed
Nice^^ Now earlier I mentioned that something about the harness, my mistake, I know I don't need the harness what I meant to say is I would like to get my hands on the RPD Pillar, Paint my DashDaq to match the tan and mod to fit the pillar, tada!!!! Rpd's for 08 baby on steroids. I just ordered my DashDaq with GPS. We'll see.
wrong, the SS/SC's had both sensors from the factory, i'm almost 100% sure the TC's do as well.
Steve, hate to be the one, but i told you so. When you told me you bought it, i told you they would have to completely re-wire the car to get it to work.
Why won't you SoCal people listen to one of your own?

You can read off of the wide band (I do)...but there is also the option of plugging in an afermarket wideband as well... the thing about the DashDAQ as opposed to the the Dash Hawk is the fact that it is a "computer"...you can fully customize the layout of the instrument (skins, design guages, etc..). Also, it can support computer software applications such as media player, etc.. It can also support a wide variety of aftermarket gauges and applications.....

How do you figure 1k? The additional gm readings are only $95.
I have an RPD, but I'm curious whats different about the BCM? Does the BCM multiplex the CAN BUS for the RPD ... thus allowing you to still use the normal OBDII port? If thats all its doing, I'd think you could use an RPD and just rig it into the normal OBDII port wiring in some way. This is assuming the RPD uses the CAN BUS which, hell.. GM might've not done.
All that said, screw it if there are better options out there. I like my RPD, but as others have said, its pretty limited in functionality.

Whoa...ok wait a mintue...
The unit is $528 on Tuner tools.... You do not need to get anything else. If you WANT the extra license it is $95. This license will open up additional sensors that GM keeps hidden (817 additional parameters). If you plan on using this instrument for tuning purposes then it is worth it to get the license...however the sensors that you OBDII port displays is more than efficient for tracking/performance (no more and no less than what you will get with the Dash Hawk). There is also an aftermarket Zietronix unit that you can buy for the unit (It is a full A/F module - not guage) but it is NOT REQUIRED... I have a feeling that some of you have been looking on ebay, where the DashDAQ is commonly sold with the Zietronix in a package. If you want to go with an aftermarket gauge you will be looking at about $200, but this is what you would be paying for the gauge anyway...the DashDAQ already comes pre-programmed with the software for two popular guages (Innovate and AEM) but you can put the software for other guages on the unit...You will also pay more if you WANT GPS, but once again, that is an option that you opt for...and is not something you would get with a Dash Hawk. (Note - if you decide to get GPS later I beleive that you can do so by paying for the upgrade after you get the unit)... In fact, the only option I do recommend getting is the AC power cable ($20), but that is only because the unit is programmed to get its power from the OBDII port itself...and there will be times when you will want to take the unit out of the car and play with it....
Keep in mind that I am not against Dash Hawk by any means... There is a guy in my car club that has one and he loves it... but I do believe that you get what you pay for. I consider something like this an investment for you car (not an enhancement)...that being the case I went all out and got this unit. It really does run rings around the competition (I did a lot of research before commitment) and I haven't once regretted my decision....
From what I know about the RPD.... The RPD plugs directly into the hraness...it does not pull from the OBDII port. The computer instead sends the information to the RPD and the OBDII. The problem with going from an 09 to an 08 is that the operating system between the two cars is different (the 08 is a 2nd gen and the 09 is a 3rd gen). The computer in an 08 will NOT recognize the unit (even if you have the module) and will not send anything to it... You can not splice the RPD unit into an 08... The DashDAQ and Dash Hawk pull from the OBDII port where you computer is sending its signals so they work across the board on all OBDII ports...You might be able to adapt an RPD to read from an ODBII, but I have a feeling that the module would be an important piece for interpreting the signal...and why bother - by the time you jerry-rig this you might as well just invest in an aftermarket unit which does more....
