Exclamation Shell Gas with Nitrogen

My friend told me not to use gas on any force induction engine because the just came out with this "nitrogen enrichment"... what it does supposedly it cleans the lines and what not, but the real grade of the gas is about 3-5 octane less. so if you put "93 octane" you are actually pouting 88-90 real octane...

if its not true dont blame me, that what i heard and just throwing it out there... might help!

I would think that if it says it's 93 Octane Gasoline................leagally it has to be a MINIMUM of 93 Octane.

I usually have good results with shell gas, I dunno. The Cobalt never liked Chevron gas though, not at all.

Nah, it wont affect the octane. Gas stations gets there gas tested once a year just about and if it doesn't meet expectations, then they get charged. I haven't noticed any difference in mine. I would of deff. got some knock by now if it did lower the octane.

Gas is gas, they are only advertising the nitrogen crap hoping theres sounds better. Its all marketing. Lots of the big companies do it.

Legaly if it says 93 it HAS to be 93 or the station owner and the company can face BIG fines! This stuff is watched and regulated big time by the feds. At the Exxon I worked at in high school they were checking our pumps to make sure they were accurate all the time it seemed. They also take samples to be tested to make sure the gas you get is what the pump says it is.

i have run all my cars in shell v-power, from my 93 Probe GT to my 08 2.4 Balt and now my SS/TC.. No problems what so ever, Just drove 390 Km on a tank of V-Power with the nitrogen, for the TC, I kept it at 120 Km/H the entire drive and about 2500 rpm, used 3/4 of a tank ..
haven't seen much of a difference since they added the nitrogen agent but..

The department of Weights and measures would be on there ass like a bee on....uh.......something sweet!
If the sticker says 93,Then it would be against the law for them to sell something less then stated

BP Amoco Ultimate 93 FTW! I make it.

They are marketing Invigorate this year. Just another name for all the additives.

IDK why Shell pushes the Nitrogen angle, N2 is inert. We use Nitrogen to purge all the vessels before working on them so nothing blows up.

I just got my SS a few weeks ago but I've been running the Shell Nitrogen since I got it and I must say I'm not sold on it. Recently I bought gas at duty free at windsor/detroit border and it's 93 octane and my car is getting better mileage (was hovering at 6/7 L/100 doing 85km where duty free gas is giving me steady 6L/100 and sometimes dropping to 5L/100 at the same speed). As far as performance, I haven't noticed much of a difference but I'm going to fill up at Sonoco and get the 94 there next and see how that works. So from an efficiency standpoint, V-power isn't all that great. I guess a dyno would be able to tell u if you get a .5hp more or not. LOL. As far as the cleaning...usually the premium gases are filled with additives to keep your engine running at peak so I personally think what they are advertising isn't really much different from what you get from other gas stations. The gas formula is probably the same as before, just a new marketing scheme.

Actually just read the other thread on this and thought of something funny for what Nitrogen enriched means. LOL, The air we breathe actually has Nitrogen in it so basically in my theory, they pump more air through the gas, hence the worse mileage I'm experiencing. Dunno. I'll post feedback on my Sunoco 94 fill. I'm almost empty now so I'll fill tomorrow and let you guys know.
