I did both...

shortened it substantially and removed reverse lock out (not by choice... trimmed it just a tad too much LOL)

How easy was this? Did you cut the stock shaft and rewelded? or did you cut and just tap a new hole?

It was easy, I cut it with a hack saw... don't use a dremel unless you want damaged plastic. I have a really nice CF shift knob that I used instead of the stock knob.

How did you get the shift knob on?
.................................................. .................................................. ..

Ok, I did it. The only hard part was getting the stock shift *** back on and to keep it on. This is just a temporary thing till I one day get a B&M........ Its cool as **** though.....man, I lowered it like 2 inches...... took it for a drive and it was amazing.

Why not buy a Hurst unit so you can keep your OEM shifter in case you ever need to take your car in for warranty work?

If you are interested in a Hurst, let me know, I just got 50 units in and I'm looking to move them for dirt cheap

SUMMA BITCH!! i already paid 150 for the damn thing and i cut it so its lower...i dont really like the hurst honestly..main reason i dont like is cus last night i was driving and went to shift 5th and hit 3rd instead, that **** is sooooo close and that damn ball is huge so you cant swap it out with anything and its fucken freezing in the mornings andddd yea i just dont like it. so i ordered a bm and had a friend shorten it and i put a diff knob on it with leather wrap so my fingers dont freeze off when i drive.

At the Black Friday sale price, I don't think you need to think twice about buying one.... all the money you are saving PLUS the FREE S&H to your door step PLUS the FREE stickers & or t-shirt... whats left to throw in... the kitchen sink?

No need to buy anything...very easy to do if you have something that will cut through the steel and I seriously doubt anyone is going to notice when it come round to selling...the mod took me 30 mins to do

Yeah... I've had hurst and B&M shifters and did not like EITHER!!! they're crap.... I had them on a 2006 vette and 2006 GTO and they kept popping loose not matter what was done, even past thread locker... so I went with a GMM Race shifter for both and the problem was solved....
