Sound problem with K&N intake. HELP!

Hey guys,

Yesturday I swapped out my HAHN cold air intake for a K&N SRI mainly for the fact that
I don't want to get water sucked up because up here in Canada we get a lot of rain and crap.
The install went perfect took 25 min seeing as I didnt have to remove the airbox just the HAHN intake.
I have Dejon hotside charge piping w/ HKS BOV and block off plate and GMS1 w/ Trifecta tune stacked via cruise control.
The problem is I have a weird sound coming from the turbo when I let off the throttle.
Its like the turbo stops sucking in air and it echos through the intake and sounds like another blow off valve.
My HKS works perfectly fine, tiny bit of flutter under 6 psi and a tiny bit of compressor surge, but this echo or pressure pushing back on the turbine when I let off the throttle bothers me. It also make a flutter sound too unless Im at full throttle. Im already thinking about taking my chances and putting my HAHN back on if I cant fix this sound.
Is this normal or is there something Im missing? Anyone heard of this before?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rad

That is weird. I had no problems before whatsoever and now when I do a straight swap it sounds really bad!

hmm, i dont run a BPV block off though i have my BOV inline with my stock BPV, so at lower speeds and boost it uses the BPV but anything over like 3lbs it uses the HKS

If I put my BPV back in with the spring and connected a T into one of the lines on the manifold would it work do you think without having to get it retuned or would removing my plate require a retune of some sort?

i think if u just T it off u will be fine, thats how i have mine, if u look in my pic in my sig u can see, the line that normally goes to the BPV i just T'd into it and ran it to the BOV

Theres the line that goes to the BOV now (Originally BPV line)
Theres one that goes to the cold side charge pipes and then a sperate line a few inches to the right that comes straight out of the intake manifold.
Which one is the best you use?

You said you did yours using a T on the line I have running to the BOV now. Do you still get enough pressure through the one line for 2 valves??
Where abouts did you put the T, close to the T Block or farther down the line?

Thanks

I ended up swapping the Hahn back in and there is no problem so I'm thinking maybe it either makes the same sound but I can't hear it from the cold air intake or the short ram just makes a back pressure or
reverberation sound against the turbine when I let off the gas.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it! Unfortunately I'll have to stay with my HAHN intake and buy a k&n drycharger filter cover.

Thanks again!

You gonna have more noise since the intake is closer to the firewall in the engine bay. You said the hahn was it the intake that went down behind the bumper?

i dont see the HAHN picking up water since the filter is in such a secluded place. i mean its got engine bay siding on the left, fender liner accross the entire bottom and behind it, and the front bumper covers pretty much the rest. to me i see you only getting water in there if your like sittin in a deep puddle. i mean the pipe is huge so its moving alot of air at a low pressure unlike a vaccum you want suction so you use a small tube and move as much as possible to pick **** up. i just dont see it happening.

maybe someone on here can prove me wrong?

its probably flutter from the hks. I bought a block off plate for mine and when i put it on it fluttered when i boosted. I put the BPV back on, T'd the vacuum hose and it went away. These cars are very finecky.
